Jack sighed, "What's been on your mind lately, lass?"
Eve took a breath an noticed the time.
"I'm sorry, but can we not do this now? I wasn't even supposed to be out of the house and I apologize but you do not know my father like I do. He's killed for less and I don't need that on top of everything else."
Jack nodded once and started the car after making sure they were both buckled in and sped off to Eve's place.
"We're going to have to do this carefully. I have to make sure that when you're at the front door, I'm at the back, and then I have to try to get upstairs behind his back."
Jack nodded once, being a man of very few words at the time.
Jack got out of the car, and went around to open Eve's door.
"I will see you after your father and I have a chat."
Eve got out of the car and scampered to the back door, ready to await hearing movement.
Jack rang the bell and stood there with his arms behind his back, waiting patiently.
Once Eve heard the bell through the house, she crept into the door and closed it quietly behind her, hearing the front door open and the voice of her father.
"Ah! You're the new blood, if I'm correct. Well, step on in."
Jack's feet moved confidently past the threshold of the door and onto the tile in the vesitbule.
Eve, who was now barefoot, padded along through the kitchen and slowly crept behind her dad and padded up the stairs. From there on, she was practically home free.
"Yes sir. Mark said you needed help with a certain situation. He's always getting himself into trouble."
Mr. Lehmann let out a gruff sound. "I'll give it to the kid that it wasn't entirely his fault, his daughter is.. 'persuasive'. But he does have a knack for people's daughters."
Eve got startled by that remark, and let out a sigh, setting her shoes down in the hall and coming to the top of the stairs.
"Who's that?"
Mr. Lehmann looked up at the landing where Eve was standing.
"This is.. Boy, what's your name?"
"Name's Jack, sir. Not short for anything, just Jack."
"Mr. uhh, Jack here will be staying with us, and he knows Mark so he's going to help out with the issues regarding..."
Mr. Lehmann paused, having thought over the events that happened this afternoon that sent Eve to her room, and to ignore him for hours. He loosely promised himself that he may need to try to work on respecting his daughters' wishes.
"Just, Eve, there's an issue, alright?"
Eve nodded quietly and turned.
"I'll be in my room."
Some time passed by and there was a knock on Eve's door. She set the book down that she was reading and got up to answer it.
"Yes?"
No answer. Great, she'd have to open the door to figure out who it was. So, against her better judgement, she opened the door to see none other than Mark's face behind it.
"Mark!"
"Hey.." he started, and then motioned if he could come in, to which Eve stepped to the side.
