"Cami! Come on! You have to!" one of my friends, Emilia said.
"Why?" I asked.
"You need to ask him out before it is too late!" my other friend, Dina said.
"Ask who out before it's too late?" Isla said, sitting down.
"Decland Leeman, you know, the jock?" Emilia said.
"Ew, he's ugly! Why would you like him?" Violet said, sitting down after Isla.
"You're only saying that because you have a boyfriend," I rolled my eyes.
"My man is amazing!" Violet said, dreamily.
"You mean your boy?" Dina said, causing the rest of us to laugh.
"Oh my God! How many times are you going to say that! We are going to get married, one day!" She sighed happily.
"Better not be anytime soon, Vi!" I said.
"If you get knocked up, I'm cutting his dick off," Dina said, she could say anything without thinking.
"Cutting whose dick off?" Vi's boyfriend, Lucas said.
"Yours," the small group of girls said in unison.
"Jesus! I just got here and you guys already want to cut my dick off!" Lucas said.
"Mr. James, that language will not be permitted in this cafeteria. That is an after-school detention," The lunch teacher, Mrs. Welborn said.
"Yes ma'am," he sighed as the girls laughed.
"Ladies, since you think that is so funny, you can join him," she handed us the neon green slips.
"Great, another detention because of you assholes," Isla rolled her eyes.
"Hey, language, Ms. Thomas, that's a detention for you," Emilia mocked Mrs. Welborn.
Not long after that, the bell rang to take us to 4th period. Then detention. I quickly called my mom while we were switching classes.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hey, Momma. You don't have to worry about me getting picked up from school,"
"And why is that?" she asked suspiciously.
"Uh...me and the girls are doing a project at Isla's house?" I lied.
"Cami. You cannot lie. Why did you get detention this time?" she sighed.
"Laughing," I stated.
"Of course! My only daughter gets in trouble for laughing," she exclaimed.
"Well, I grew up with Chris, Clay, and Carter. What do you expect?" I laughed.
"True. Hopefully your younger brothers won't turn out like them," she laughed with me. Then the warning bell rang, signaling that I only had one minute to get to class.
"Sorry, Momma, gotta get to class! Bye, love you!"
"Bye, Cami! See you at 4:30!" she hung up right after that.
I made it to my seat just in time. I sank into my chair, relieved that I wouldn't get another tardy slip. Let's just say, I'm not the best with time. Or behavior.
"You okay, Cami?" Vi said, chuckling at my probably red face.
"I feel great!" I panted.
"Alright students! Settle down, time for class,"
