I woke up at 7:30 that morning. I slowly opened my eyes and blocked the light with my hands doing so to not hurt my eyes. I groaned, not wanting to go to school. I tried to pull the covers back over my head but was stopped when the motion changed direction. My mom was above my bed she leaned over me and whispered in my ear, "Wake up," I groaned again twisted, pushing most the covers away from my body and crawled out of bed. I changed into some clean clothes and grabbed my backpack. I grabbed a few waffles from the freezer and popped them in the toaster. I grabbed the maple syrup and a plate and sat down on the smooth dining table. I realized I had forgotten butter so I stood back up and by the time I had grabbed it my waffles had just popped out of the toaster. They were a little undercooked but they were still pretty good. It was only 7:45 so I went back to my room to play Cut the Rope on my phone.
Half an hour passed in what felt like the speed of sound and it was already 8:15. I wished that time would pass like that in class I thought. I put my backpack back on and called out to my mom to come take me to school. I rushed out to the car and repeatedly tugged on the handle and finally there was a click and the door opened. My mom walked out of the door and ducked into the driver's seat. It took 5 minutes to get to Lee High School. I walked in the front doors of the school and immediately could see my friends. Kyle, DeMarcus, and Mark. Kyle and I had been friends since 1st grade. I met Mark in my 5th year of school and Demarcus by the start of eighth grade. DeMarcus was talking to Mark when I pushed my way into the group. There were 10 minutes until class started and I really just hoped that the time in class would feel fast.
I entered the gym one minute before the bell and I had P.E. first period. It was a quite simple class. All we had to do was climb ropes and ring a bell about 20 feet above our heads. I shared this class with Kyle so it wasn't so bad. I had science next and it usually felt like a millennium, but fortunately, it only felt like a century today. I walked into math class for my next period and Mark and DeMarcus were in this class so I thought it would be great but the teacher assigned new seats that day so that was awful. I just had physics until it would be lunchtime. It was an easy class so I thought it wouldn't be too bad. Finally, I sighed a sweet relief and it was lunchtime. I had a chicken sandwich for lunch and talked with my friends and... Connor and Cooper walked to our lunch table.
Aw man, this should be good. My relief was soon gone when the bullies had entered the cafeteria. "Ayy little kid get over here we still haven't settled this," Connor said. "I didn't even do anything I literally tapped you," I replied. "And gave me this bruise?" Connor stated. "Tapping me on the back wouldn't give me a big bruise on my back. Are you really so ignorant to not know what a tap on the back is? I think you slapped me on the back, I really don't believe you just tapped me. This is what a tap on the back looks like." Connor moved his hand in the air slowly to show the action. "ThIs IS WhAT a tAp On THe BAcK lOoKS LiKe," I said, mocking him. Connor charged at me like a bull. I sidled to my right and pushed his head down. I did this with a mammoth impact forcing his head to the floor. His head cracked open and he had a concussion. Cooper followed Connor's lead despite Connor's injury. I ducked and grasped Cooper's legs and threw them over my head. He flipped with immense momentum and landed with his legs split giving him about equal injuries to Connor's. Although, his pants splits open revealing TMNT underwear. My whole gang laughed. Suddenly on the intercom there was a voice," Joe Marmalade please come to the office, Joe Marmalade please come to the office,"
Principal Hernandez was sitting in the office. "Another fight," Hernandez said. "A 4.0 and yet you're ignorant enough to pick a fight. "But..." I was stopped by Principal Hernandez shushing me. "I wasn't finished talking," Hernandez said again. "You need to stop getting in fights with the older kids. Sometimes I call you the wise and foolish because you're smart enough to get a 4.0 and not smart enough to not pick a fight." "That was improper grammar and you can shush your mouth before I punch your golden tooth out," I replied "I'm tired of you calling me into the office. I think I've told you enough times that it's not my fault they pick a fight and get hurt." I left the office without listening to the principal signaling me to come back into the office. I decided to just leave anyways. The 5th period had already started so I just walked out of school with my backpack and took the long walk home. I stopped a couple of times to pretend I went on the bus and my mom would hopefully not know I left school early.
