Rachel
This isn't an average love story, where the new girl who doesn't quite fit in sees the hot bad boy and falls in love with him and then he falls in love with her. No, no, no, this is much different, and maybe this story won't even end in love. Who knows? Guess you'll have to find out after a warm introduction from the beautiful Rachel Lynn Baker.
I mean, that was kind of the introduction and I am Rachel; my friends call me Rach, but you can call me Rachel.
To start from the beginning, it was August 26th, a beautiful day for a beautiful girl. But a not so lovely day for the end of summer. Summer vacation is basically heaven for most people. I am most people.
"Hey, Wayne," I said and leaned against the lockers. Before you jump to conclusions, I have no interest in Wayne. He is a friend. For real. And he has a girlfriend.
"Rach, have you seen Cate?" Cate is his girlfriend, by the way. Short, blonde, skinny, hot. That's Cate in a nutshell. Her twin Candace is all the same.
"Wayne!" Cate ran to Wayne and hugged him. Honestly, the two were perfect for each other.
Being the popular girl, I just moved down a few lockers to my besties, Willow, Lia, and Ash.
"Hey, Rachel!" They all said in unison.
Lia piped up, "Did you hear about the new girl? I heard she was expelled from her last school. But she's probably just another Toby." Toby was the new kid last year. All the girls expected some hot jock, but he ended up being some gross farmer boy.
"Could be," Ash piped up, "but I want some drama, I've been lacking it recently."
Now hold up. I know you're thinking I'm an idiot for thinking this isn't cliche. But calm down, wait for the drama. The climax. The spiciness! Basically just hold your horses, sweetie.
I was about to respond when I saw commotion in the corner of my eye. A black-haired girl was walking down the hallway, smiling. The new girl.
She looked at me and smiled. "Rachel, I've heard talk about you," The girl said. "I'm Payge with a 'y'." She winked and walked down the hall to her first class.
I scoffed of course. Like, who is this girl thinking she can come into my school and act like she rules it.
I just pulled my bag out of my locker and went to my first class, chemistry. Despite my appearance and my attitude, I am smart.
By the end of the day, I was fed up with hearing all of this jabber about so-called, "Payge". Even her name enraged me. I definitely was inviting her to my party on Friday.
So since I'm the author, I get to choose what parts of the story to tell. To fill you in on Tuesday through Thursday, it was boring. No drama, no fights, just everybody talking about the new girl. So if you haven't picked up on the obvious hints, I'm just telling you what happened Friday.
So I walk into the school in my favorite outfit, a white crop top, red skirt, some golden wedges, and white sunglasses. In a nutshell, I looked good. But of course, the new girl shows up looking even better in her stupid cheer uniform. Of course she joined the cheer team, and of course, I had just quit. I didn't even try out this year because at the time the tryouts were I was still dating Justin, and he didn't want me in that skimpy outfit. Now I regret that because the whole school was just staring at Payge in her skimpy uniform. Ugh.
"Rachel! I saw your invite and I will totally be there, just so you know." Payge smiles brightly.
"Great. See you there!" I shared an equally as bright smile and turned and walked away. Good first impressions, destroy her later.
