17. Suspicion and Truth
Herenya finally tells Legolas what is really going on.*Legolas' P.O.V*
“Aragorn, I feel Herenya is keeping something from me.” I said.
“What do you think it is?”
“I am not sure. But the look on her face when she was telling me about everything that happened after you left this morning wasn't very reassuring.”
“What happened?”
“I think she would like to tell you herself.”
“Well then let us go find her.”
*Herenya's P.O.V*
He is suspicious. He does not believe me. Why should he? It is all lies. But what if it is not. What if Galadriel was wrong and I am not pregnant.Oh that would be perfect.
“Herenya?”
You turned quickly to find Legolas and Aragorn watching you.
“Oh, Legolas, Aragorn. I was just thinking. Come, sit.”
“Herenya, please enlighten me. I have no knowledge of the past few hours. Why?” Aragorn asked, dumbfounded.
“Oh yes of course. I am sorry Aragorn.”
“Tell me all.”
“Well after you left us earlier a strange thing happened.”
“Oh Herenya, did it not get up?”
“Ha ha very funny.” Legolas said as he punched Aragorn in the arm.
“Of course it could. No, but, argh, okay. I could control the elements of nature. It was how I got dressed this morning.”
“You are kidding. Show me.”
“You are so stubborn.”
You got up and walked to a nearby stream. You concentrated your mind and the next thing you know a wave of water hit Aragorn. (Like in the Trident Splash Commercials. hehe)
“Wow! You were not kidding.”
“Well obviously. Anyway, when I went to Galadriel she told about this whole prophecy thing.
You continued to tell Aragorn everything. He did not go against your word this time. You told him the same thing you told Legolas.
“Well. That is quite the something.” Aragorn said.
“Yes. But Aragorn may I have a word with Legolas, please?”
“But of course. I will see you two later. Galadriel and Celeborn are having a feast for us, before we leave. Be there.”
Aragorn left and Legolas approached you.
“Legolas, I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?” he asked.
“I think you should sit down.”
“Okay.”
Legolas sat against a tree and you sat in front of him.
“Umm . . . I lied before.”
“When?”
“When I told you it was my powers that made me pass out.”
“Then what was it? You can tell me Herenya.”
You crawled into Legolas' lap and he held you out of instinct.
“Please don't be mad. I was surprised too.”
“Will you just tell me what it is?”
You looked him straight in the eye.
“I--I am--I am pregnant.”
“Pregnant?! Are you sure?”
“Galadriel thinks that is it. And so far I have found no reason to doubt it.
Legolas just looked awe struck.
“Are you mad? Please don't be mad.”
“Herenya, why would I be mad? I might be mad if it was not mine, but that would be a lie.”
“You are not mad?”
“No. Of course not.”
“Good. But, don't tell anyone, just, yet. Okay?”
“Buy . . .”
“Not even Aragorn.”
“Okay.”
“Thank you. But Legolas . . .”
“What?”
“I fear for the fellowship.”
“Why?”
“I fear that, I will slow down the fellowship. I do not want anyone to get hurt because of me.”
“No one will.”
“But they will. I just know it, in my bones.”
A few tears escaped your eyes.
“You know, my adda always says that there is a little bit of magic in all of us.”
He held one of your tears on the end of his finger.
“And that when one believes he can do something, he will.”
And before you eyes, the tear turned into a little crystal jewel and it fell, unharmed, into Legolas' palm.
“Oh valar. Make more.”
Legolas grabbed a tear, one by one, and turned them into little crystals. By the end, there were four.
