Chapter 6: Explanations
Silence
That's all Yellow could hear.
You know that annoyingly eerie but quiet sound you hear when a room is absolutely quiet? How it feels like it's inside your ear but you know it isn't?
That's all Yellow could hear at the moment.
"Megavolt?",Yellow questioned after what seemed like hours.
Now it was Crystal's turn to give her a quizzical look.
"Have you never heard of Megavolt?...Yellow did you ever go to school before today?"Yellow's cheeks flushed red once again. Oh no, was she that obvious? Was Megavolt a move that was supposed to be well known? Why didn't her uncle teach her this?
"Well",Crystal added in quickly, sensing the blonde's internal distress. "It's not common knowledge I guess but every trainer has heard of the move at least once, that's why I'm asking...and also you're too shy for your own good",she added the last part quickly.
Yellow groaned and hid her face with her hands. She then frowned and looked up at Crystal. "So..can you explain Megavolt to me?"
Yellow had never seen someone's eyes light up so fast like a god damn Christmas tree.
"Really?! My friends never let me explain stuff to them!! Though I will say I do tend to go into a lot of detail when explaining...are you sure you want me to tell you?",Crystal asked, hope clearly in her eyes. Crystal must really love to teach.
Yellow nodded, not yet knowing she might as well have signed away half of her life span.
"Great! Okay, so as well know, humans and Pokémon always stood side by side since before humans started making records.",Crystal said and Yellow nodded, she knew at least that much.
Crystal frowned a bit before she spoke. "We also know that all the regions were once an island, and because of this, land was actually pretty unstable. Especially with the legendary Pokémon wanting to constantly battle it out with other Pokémon."
Yellow just nodded again, she looked like an eager student-
"Well, eventually the legendary Pokémon caused so much damage that land was starting to separate, and no matter how much people and Pokémon pleaded, they wouldn't stop. They would only listen to Arceus, who is said to be the god of Pokémon, but the thing is, Arceus had been in a deep sleep for a long time, and no matter how much he was attacked, poked or shaken, he wouldn't wake up. Normal attacks wouldn't do any good either.",Crystal said then took a deep breath. Yellow hadn't realized how entrance she was, Crystal had said that in one whole breath!
"Well, hundreds of years go by, and the land was so close to separating. All hope was lost, until a Pokémon trainer went to visit Arceus. At the time, no one thought much of it. Just another poor kid hoping for the best, right? However, this kid was special somehow. No one could tell you honestly, they seemed like a normal goofy kid you see everyday, but there was definitely something there that attracted others to him. Just being near Arceus had the god Pokémon himself stirring in his sleep, as if almost waking up. Here's where things get tricky, everyone started to say different things about what happened.",Crystal sighed.
"Some say that he used Megavolt to wake up Arceus, others say he spoke softly to the Pokémon and willed it to listen to him and help stomp the rampage his fellow kin were causing. However, some believe he did both. You know that legend about the Viridian Forest right?",Crystal asked, her eyes shining once again as if wanting to explain.
"Uh..yeah actually I do",Yellow says feeling her eyes shift away a bit. She could tell Crystal was disappointed in not having to explain but nodded anyway.
"Well as you know, the legend goes that every 50 years a child is born in the forest, no one knows where they come from, they're just..there. They're said to be Arceus gift to humans, but really? No one knows, anyway these kids are said to have amazing supernatural abilities. They can do various things or maybe just one, it depends on the person really. People theorized that the kid who woke Arceus up was a child of the forest, which is why he stirred in his sleep. He was in the presence of someone who was practically his son after all.",Crystal said and did not miss the look of slight realization of Yellow's face but again, she didn't question it. Not yet anyway.
"It's said that the kid tried talking to the god Pokémon, but he was so deep in sleep he ended up using a move that had been passed down to generations, it was meant to be used on the rampaging legendaries if Arceus didn't wake up but, he did. After waking up, Arceus stopped the legendary Pokémon and almost sent them away, but by then the land was so unstable that the island split away into different regions and drifted away from each other. Arceus demanded that the legendaries atone for their actions by protecting each individual region and they are not allowed to leave unless he himself tells them too. So, that's how we got our legendary Pokémon..."
"But about Megavolt...it's said the trainer only had to use it once again, and this time it wasn't said why or on who...but other people tried to replicate the move because the trainer refused to teach it to anyone else. Even his own future kids and grandkids were denied the information.",Crystal sighed.
Yellow frowned, confusion once again shown in her face. "Wait, Wait, Wait, every 50 years? I thought it was 2..?"
Crystal smiled. "Oh right, how could I forget? Before leaving to watch over the regions once again, Arceus and the trainer had a silent stare off and once Arceus left, the trainer turned to everyone and told them to go meet the new babies in the Viridian Forest. He said that as an apology, Arceus would bless us by giving us special children every two years instead of 50. It was strange that the new babies that grew up into adulthood never had children though. Well, a few of them did but most didn't. Some were unable to and others who did have kids, their kids didn't receive any special abilities like their parents. Not even future generations."
Yellow's eyes narrowed a bit, and the relaxed as she drank in the information. So, that means that she...
Yellow looked over at Crystal "Well, thank you for telling me Crystal but I- please believe me when I say this but, I have no idea where ChuChu learned that move. When ChuChu was a wild Pokémon she was mostly defenseless and scared, but after meeting me and other wild Pokémon she learned to fight back, but I'm sure wild Pokémon don't learn a powerful move from nowhere, and they are ChuChu's only friends."
Crystal frowned in confusion once again. "But if you didn't teach her, and no one in the wild that you know of taught her...then who did?"
