Chapter 8: Fear

Red was a nice guy. Or so he liked to believe anyway.

He knew he scared people when he got angry, which is why he smiled a lot, to keep people at ease. So to say he was shocked when a young blonde boy ran away from him is an understatement.

Blue seemed confused as well, and made the suggestion that maybe Yellow, Yellow, a nice name for such a shy kid, was a fan of Red's and maybe he was flustered at meeting him face to face.

Red didn't think that was the case. Sure, he'd have people run away from him because they got nervous about meeting someone they look up to, but the look on their eyes was completely different to the look Yellow had given him when he ran.

Other people had a look of awe, envy, or maybe anxiousness, some even turned red from embarrassment or because they liked him, which Red could never figure out why since they barely knew him, but Yellow...

Yellow had looked at him in fear

He'd never been looked at like that, at least, not by someone he didn't know. Yellow looked terrified to be near him, and there wasn't a hint of awe or anxiousness when he looked at Yellow's eyes.

Just fear

Complete and utter fear.

The thought made his heart twist in his chest and a frown formed as he and the rest of the class were told to sit down by Oak. He looked unamused by the fact that Yellow wasn't there, and Red hoped that for his own sake, Yellow should hurry back to class.

It was probably 10 minutes into the lesson before Crystal had walked in, her clothes were slightly scorched and she smelled like she had just been burned. Had she been struck by lightning? No, She wouldn't be able to walk properly right now if she had...had she been near someone who had?

Crystal walked over to Professor Oak and quietly spoke to him. The class erupted in murmurs as Professor Oak's face turned from anger to confusion, then to worry. A bit of panic went through Red as he could swear up and down that he had heard Crystal say "a blonde kid with green-yellow eyes"

What happened to Yellow?

Was he okay?

Why was Professor Oak so worried now?

Red felt his anxiety grow as Oak whispered something back to her. Crap, why was he so scared? He didn't know Yellow, yet he was terrified for the kid's safety. Why? Why did he have such a huge need to make sure he's okay? He's never been so worried for someone he didn't know before, so why?

After a while Crystal nodded at Oak and turned to Blue, Green and Red. She gave them a polite nod of acknowledgement and the three returned it, she quickly walked out of the classroom and the class went silent again.

Tension filled the room as Oak rubbed his temples and let out a small sigh. A kid was brave enough to ask. "What happened sir? Is everything all right?"

Oak stayed quiet for a bit and then proceeded with the lesson. The tension slowly left the classroom but Red couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong, terribly wrong, and that he had to leave, get up and go to the nurse but-

Why?

After class ended, the nagging feeling of going to the nurse's office only worsened. He couldn't stop himself honestly, he HAD to go. If he didn't, he doesn't know how else he could calm his anxiety.

Red was glad he had left Pika at his dorm, if he hadn't the former would probably be giving Red looks the whole time and he didn't need that right now.
