Chapter 16

(Y/N)'s POV
I sat in front of the telly at my new house, flicking through the channels. It seemed as though every one of them had my face on it. I didn't tell anyone where I was; not even the girls, or my manager, and the nation was in full freak out mode. Fans were putting up missing posters and getting together search parties, while the more pessimistic ones were holding candlelit vigils. I've not left the house since I got here - and it's been a week since I moved. I told my family not to speak to the press, not even a simple 'hello', and people think they're morbid. I've had to turn my phone off because it's forever blowing up with messages from fans, my manager, the girls and almost anyone you can think of. It's a scary experience honestly, but it's also very validating - it's nice to know that people care about you so much.
However, this seclusion can't last forever, so I've decided to Tweet.

(Y/N) (L/N) @itsyagirl(y/n)
hey guys, i'm sorry for disappearing but i'm ok.
i really needed some time to myself, as my dad passed away last week. i've moved home in order to spend more time with family, and from now i'll be devoting more of my time to them. however, i will keep writing songs and i'll try to get into the studio every so often. i love you all so much.
peace
- (Y/N)

Almost as soon as I'd hit the post button, likes, comments and messages began to pour in. There were some lovely messages people left for me, but also haters who thought I was just attention-seeking.

A few hours after I'd posted the message, there was a knock on my door. I looked through the peephole, only to see the four girls of Little Mix on my doorstep.
"How the fuck did you find me?" I asked in disbelief.
"Snap map!" Jade said. "We knocked on about four wrong doors before we found you."
"Most embarrassing moments of my life," said Leigh-Anne.
"We really missed you," Perrie said.
"Just don't ever do it again," said Jesy. "You scared the shit out of us."
"And everyone in the country," Jade added.

We spent ages in the living room, the girls consoling me every time I got misty-eyed. Messages were still pouring in on my social media, so I turned off my phone and focused on the people in front of me.
The girls encouraged me to write down how I was feeling - and we ended up with a pretty good song. So much for getting into the studio every so often - Perrie called a local recording studio and soon I was standing next to a mic with the girls looking in through the large window. After a couple of hours, three cups of tea and at least four packets of chocolate digestives between us, I had a finished song. I named it 'Two of Us', and rang my record label to see how quickly we could get it released. We all left the studio and went across the road to an Indian restaurant. Leigh and Jesy conveniently both have to go to the bathroom after we order, so I'm left with Jade and Perrie.

A day later, the girls had to leave the country for an appearance in another country. This gave me time to reflect and to spend some quality time with my family. My mum and my sister were both devastated, clearly, but my mum was definitely worst off. Her and my dad had met in high school and been together for 30 years, and she could barely remember a time without him. So, the next few days consisted off comforting various family members, crying, and then the funeral. My mum didn't want it to be a big thing, and we made sure that no paparazzi got wind of the occasion.

The funeral was extremely sad. I got overwhelmed by everything going on, so decided to leave partway to go on a walk. I regretted my decision as soon as I bumped into a couple of fans. I love them, but I can't deal with them all the time. Especially not on a day like today.
After seeing way too many fans I decided to buy a 'disguise' consisting of a cheap hoodie and a pair of crappy sunglasses I found in the local Sainsburys, and then I got an uber home - apparently I walked kinda far.
I felt my phone buzz against my thigh and looked at the screen to see a frantic message from my mum, wondering where I was.
"Fuck," I mutter. I must not have told her that I was leaving. I typed back a quick message reassuring her that I'm OK, before doing a massive yawn. It's only 5 pm, but I'm shattered. After the uber arrives at my house, I go upstairs to get ready for bed. Then, I hear the notification tone from my phone.

Hope you sleep well x
