"Feed me." Thick drool drips onto the ground with a splat as Erin blinks slowly. "Do I have to spell it out to you?"
"Who are you..." Erin crosses her legs and sniffs. Silence. The thing doesn't respond. She gets up slowly, running her fingers across the hatch door. "Who- who are you?" Her fear pokes her like a dagger as she spots a figure in the darkness. Her eyes strain but they make out a tall, white humanoid form in some sort of costume. It stands it's full height, it's shoulders still hunched. "I asked a question..."
"I know..." It's words fade. It slowly loses it's form and soon is gone again. Erin gulps as the light fades above. The beast wails from is cavern and Erin shudders as the howling wind burrows it's way into the sewers, leaving a trail of pungent odours. The island in the centre of the chamber being lapped by grey water while garbage drifts past.
"What do you want-" Erin glances over her shoulder and watches two yellow eyes emerge from the now open hatch beside her. The white forehead framed by an orange glow smiles as it stares deeply into her soul.
"You know what I want..." It laughs and splutters, "fresh meat!" It's arms flail as it falls back down into the hole. Erin lurches over and nearly jumps but the hatch slams shut, inches from her fingers. She scans her surroundings and scowls down at the hatch,
"Where's Henry!" She shouts, "WHERE'S HENRY!" Her fists clench as she pounds the doorway, hot tears roll down her cheeks and her limbs ache... She soon grows tired and curls up on the trapdoor, quivering in the dying light-
"Erin." An innocent voice peeps in the darkness. "Erin." She lifts her head slowly, "follow me." It's a child. Objects lift in the water to form a bridge to a tunnel out. "Hurry!" She stands up and steps onto a baby carriage, it bobs in the water so she regains her balance. Another step, a few more. There. She hops onto solid ground and stares into the abyss, where did he go? She hears footsteps scamper down the tunnel so she follows after them. They pick up the pace and get faster-
"Wait up!" She shouts but they only continue to run. Suddenly they stop. The child's voice fades back down the tunnel and her gaze is directed up. Musty light stabs through gaps above- a street. She lifts her hand and pushes gently onto the metal... it shifts. Her fingers struggle to push the metal disk up and she manages to get it open. It's a road. She lifts her head up and glances out and around. Nobody. And it's night. She hauls herself over the ridge, onto the street and closes the manhole cover behind her before brushing off her clothes.
"What are you waiting for?" The voice whispers from the drain- Erin lowers her head slowly to hear what it is saying- "GET ME SOME FOOD!" She jumps up and composes herself before nodding and taking a shaky breath. Food. Go. She picks up the pace in search for it's next meal, her subconscious being led purely by fear- fear of it.
