The Day She Gave Up

Chapter 1: Realization

Zirk's POV

"Why are you being like that?", I asked her.

"Why don't you ask yourself first", she told me sarcastically.

"Ano na naman ba ang nagawa ko?", pagbabalik ko ng tanong sa kanya.

"Ano nga bang nagawa mo.....  Ahh bigla ka na lang nanlamig", pabalang niyang sagot sa akin.

"What?! Just because of that?! You are so unreasonable!", I shouted at her furiously.

"Ok! Ok! I get it! I'm unreasonable but please remember that " the colder you'll get, the farther I'll be", she said before walking away.

"She's so childish, as if I'll believe her", I told myself.

I continued being cold towards her, until one day..............

"Xyle!!!"

I shouted her name to get her attention and I expected her to stop and turn around to greet me but I was wrong. Hindi man lang niya ko tinapunan ng tingin at sa halip ay nagpatuloy lamang siya sa paglalakad na parang walang narinig.

Tumakbo ako papunta sa kanya at hinigit ang kaniyang kanang kamay para pigilan siya ngunit nabigla ako nang bawiin niya ang kanyang kamay at pagalit na sinampal ako.

"What is happening to you, you crazy woman!!!", I growled at her.

"I already told you Zirk, that the colder you get, the farther I'll be but you never listened.  I'm begging you, just leave me alone. Hindi ko na kayang masaktan pa. My heart can't bear too much pain anymore", she said calmly yet pain is visible in her eyes.

"Well, I'm sorry. I thought you were joking", I told her.

"I'm sorry?! Really?! Do you expect me to believe you?! Well, that's your problem, you always take me for granted and you always think that it's all a joke but I'm sorry as well because I GIVE UP!!!!", she shouted and I noticed tears running down her cheeks before she turned around and ran away from me.

She already gave up, I kneel down and cried helplessly because I've realized everything too late.

I lost the woman I love. Masyado akong nakampante na hindi niya ako kayang sukuan.

I stood up and immediately made my way to the parking lot of our school. Nagdrive ako papunta sa lugar kung saan ko siya dinadala palagi noong mga panahong hindi ko pa siya iniiwasan.

Umupo ako sa paborito naming bench at saka sinimulang alalahanin ang lahat.
