Mixed Breed!

chapter 8

***JEN'S POV***

Lilly and I arrived in front of MY house within seconds.

"MA! YOU HOME?" I YELLED.

"I'm here, just stop yelling, Jayden (my half baby brother) is asleep." She said entering the living room as I gave her a cheek kiss. "Hey Lilian, how are you?" Reaching out for a hand shake.

"I'm ok Lani." She responded while shaking my mother's hand back. My mother insisted for Lilly to call her by her name Alani but they came up with a nickname instead.

"Where's Henry (step father)?"

"He went out with a couple of buddies from the office." (He was a lawyer, he's barley home)

"Mom, we need to talk." I said, after about 2 seconds of silence.

"Okayyyy. Go ahead." She said.

"No ma sit." I said patting on the empty couch seat I was standing by. "Lil could you check on Jayden for me."

"Sure." With that said she went upstairs.

My mom looked at me weirdly. "So whats going on?"

"Martine Baptiste." I said with my head down.

"How'd you-"

"Lets just say Mani's parents are into that freaky stuff and they had a book of last names and checked mines and I found out that she was a powerful witch that did something so that all her kids and grand kids could barely get harmed."

"But how come you never told me this? Ma?"

" For the safety of you and Jayden."

"But mom, have you ever thought that this might've been the safest way for us?"

"This house protects us thats why we have never moved, this house will let no evil in. This is all the protection we need."

"Mom I want to learn how to protect you! TO PROTECT OUR FAMILY!"

She got up and gave me a warm bear hug. "Okay." She walked to the bookshelf and pulled a small blue book which revealed a wall. "You ready?" My mom looked back gesturing at me to come on. I gave her a confused look and she turned around waved her arm and a hallway appeared.  She walked in and I followed her.

"Whoa." This looked like the attic from the tv series Charmed but with potions/books everywhere.

"I can teach you but I dont want you too use magic for your own personal gain I want you to work for what you want. So deal?"

"Definitely." I said nodding my head.

"Okay let's get u started on a few lessons."

" Yeah, first that arm waving thing what is that? " I asked.

"What that was skill. Your heart has to desire something. It's like you wishing upon a star with a wave of your hand but that is certainly to view what is hidden so in your heart desire show, view, reveal, or open and whatever is hidden will be revealed. Try it at the door make it close and open back."

I hesitated at first. Then I thought to my self "better now than never". I swung my hand and nothing happened.

"Try a little bit slower and desire." My mom said ask she have me an example.

I closed my eyes and reopened them and wave and the wall apeared while we were inside. I clapped and jumped with joy.

"Great job hun I knew it wouldn't be hard to teach you. Now go ahead and open it back up."

Waved again and it reopened. Damn im good.

"Okay this is the book for starters." she handed me a big book that said: "Baptiste"  "This should teach you a good amount."

"Thanks will this help-"

"It will help you with alot of things, that was what taught me how to use magic."  She said cutting me off.

"Mom where's that book? The one with old grandma Martine on there? I kinda need it we're looking into something."

"Sure, here." She didn't even ask why.

"Guess what I found out, Martine was also the bestfriend of Maria Lopez which was Lilly's great great great grandmother."

My mom gasped in shock. "But Maria was a powerful Jin/vampire-"

"Wait she was both?  Mixed breed?"

"Yeah, so that must make Lil-"

"Yep, but we thought she absorbed the power of the lower level demon when he bit her."

"I read alot in Martine's book when Maria was bit by another creature she absorbed the strength of that creature."

"Damn wait till I tell them this."

Just then we heard a car engine park at our home. "It must be Henry.  Come on get the books let's close this up he doesn't know about this and probably never will." We hurried out and I made the pass way turn back into a wall and put the book shelf back in his place.

"Hello." Henry said coming in and giving my mom a kiss and and giving me a fist pound.

"Hello." We answered back sitting on the couch.

I got up, "Well this had been fun but got to go." I said. Before calling Lilly down the stairs so we could go.

"I'll be down." I heard her say not too loud probably not to wake up Jayden. She came down the stairs and noticed Henry. "Hello." She said give him a hand shake. I pulled her towards the door. "Goodbye Lani and Henry."

"Bye ma,  Henry. I'll be back soon.  Get ta cookin." I said with a funny accent. 

They laughed. "Bye girls."

"We got out side how did it go?" She asked me.

"Not bad she taught me a little and she gave me something that will help teach me even more." I answered lifting up the 2 big books.

*Beep Beep Beep Beep*

Lilly looked at her phone guessing it was a text message.

**LILLY'S POV**

As we were leaving the house my phone was beeping as though I had gotten a text message. I opened it and it read : From Dad, sweetheart come home asap. We need to talk, all of us needs to talk. Love you & be safe.

"Great now my dad wants to talk, nothing good ever comes from when he says we need to talk."

"No don't say that this could be important." Jen said back to me. "Want me to come with?"

"Na, thank you though I just bring you back to Mani's place." We turned the corner to make sure we were unable to be seen and I teleported to Mani's place, of course I explain why I had to go. I drove Jen's car home. I dont want my family in this mess.

Sorry it took so long. I got caught up.
But let me know how you feel anout the story so far...

I dedicate this chapter to my utter most annoying cousin Thamica "Gatorade girl" Jean who kept bothering me to update because she finally started reading it. Can I believe her I asked her a couple of days ago what chapter was she on since  she started reading. This chick told me chapter she was on chapter 15 0.o I don't have a chapter 15 smh.
