There's still spoilers for Trials and Tribulations Bridge to Turnabout! If you haven't finished that yet, this will have some of the biggest spoilers in the game and you won't understand anything! This will pretty much pertain to all chapters after this one too.

《Edgeworth's point of view》

"Well, this still doesn't answer the question of where everyone is." The girl said, snapping me out of my wide array of thoughts.

"Indeed. I'm not even sure myself if this is a thing we can solve by just sheer evidence and logic alone." I replied, uncertain.

"We can always try!" She reassured me, trying to keep me optimistic.

"I have aluminum powder on me luckily, so we could try dusting for fingerprints. Other than that, without my luminol spray or a forensics team, there's nothing else I can gather here. As much as I could dust for prints, it's useless without the records for the fingerprints. I'd have to ask someone at the Police Department for that, and well...quite frankly they're gone." I confessed to her. The situation was looking bleak in terms of this case, and just about anyone could admit to that.

The thought of me not being able to solve a case or mystery by the means I had been successful with for my entire career suddenly being of no use to me now almost made me shudder. I couldn't help but fathom at how the end of the road had appeared so soon in my tracks. Even worse, there was never a path to follow to begin with.

I was never really one to believe in the supernatural. I deal with facts, logic and evidence, and yet here I am thinking it's supernatural. All the meanwhile the Spirit Medium who deals with the supernatural rather than fact, logic and evidence like myself suddenly believes in the facts—rather than the supernatural.

[ It was almost as if our roles had switched for no good reason. ]

"Well, we can always just find it ourselves and use it! Right〜?" The girl schemed. It almost felt like she was mocking me. I couldn't just do that! It would count as theft!

(Yet again if I were to do that I could get a definitive lead. However, being a practitioner of law, I couldn't just break it and steal.)

"That would be stealing. And I especially cannot do that as a just upholder of the law." I openly admitted, with a slight look of defeat clouding my face. My posture even subconsciously stooped as I had said that and I didn't even become aware of it until I had finished straightening my back up once more.

"Well, if we can find who that necklace belongs to—oh wait...There's nobody here to ask." Maya had beamed at the idea to find a new lead, until the thought of the process of getting there quickly caught up with her. The reality of the grim situation that was preventing us from getting anywhere with the case obscured our goal. She gave up, defeated—with the same body language I had just before her, and sighed.

"You do have a point actually. Luckily, I already know who owned this necklace and their motives, as I dealt with them in a previous case, so we do have a lead. Despite it coming completely from conjecture." I reassured her. Seeing the sullen girl who was always so radiant with positivity made me only want to console her, and repay her with the slight bit of optimism she had given me these past few minutes.

"Who is it then?" Maya poked at the sensitive topic, probably completely unaware of this part of Wright's past.

If Wright and Maya had known each other this long, and Wright had never told her a word, he probably didn't want to burden her. Either that, or it was too sensitive a topic to bring up with her. I concluded that it was best to play it safe and not say.

"Weellll〜?" She poked again.

"I'm afraid I cannot say for both yours and Wright's sake." I disclosed to her.

"Ok then! I'll just ask Nick then hehe〜!" Maya said mischievously. I should probably advise her to not go off and talk to Wright about such a thing, however there was more important matters to attend to at the moment. I decided to take a mental note of it to bring it up at a later time.

"If he turns out to either be dead or alive, I just want him to have a peace of mind, knowing that I never told anyone. Or you for that matter. However I believe he is still in the hospital right now, given the fact that the poison was strong enough to make him vomit blood. I've seen other cases with this exact poison before, and most either die or never wake up for years." I added as a way to bring up the topic again later, and warn her of Wright's circumstances.

"I hope he'll be alright..." She seemed worried again. I may have said too much. There goes all the hope I had gave her...

"As do I." I agreed with her, as well as trying to console her.

"Hey... Mr. Edgeworth?" She prodded at me once more.

"Yes Maya? What is it?" I questioned.

"Can we go visit him a little later maybe?" She asked, still sad and concerned for the Attorney. She looked up at me, almost pleading at me like a sad puppy.

"If they allow us that is. Even then with all these missing people, who knows if theres even anyone at the—"

"WAIT IF THAT'S THE CASE!! OH GOD!!" I interrupted myself, as the horrifying trail of logic set off.

My eyes opened as far as they could go.

My heart stopped.

I froze.

My entire body filled with adrenaline and fear.

Dread.

Urgency.

That is how I would describe this exact moment right now.

Red alarms rang everywhere in my head. Wright was probably in critical condition and nobody was there to even make sure he was at least "ok".

"MAYA."

"Y-yes Mr. Edgeworth?"

"FOLLOW ME.

"NOW."

I immediately ran as fast as I could to the Dye Young Hospital, where Wright was being held. The adrenaline made me swifter than I had ever dreamed I could be. All of a sudden I was as fast as an olympic athlete and my substitute assistant was struggling to keep with my pace.

Sheesh I think this was the longest one yet! Even if only by a few words, but still! I'm trying to keep these chapters as consistent as I can in length (each time they cone out to be about 1,000 words each, perfectly consistent to where I want to stop in the plot). Just before I typed up this chapter we got a bit further in the story in the Discord chat and I can say things got really REALLY angsty.

Once again, thank you to tumblr @wafflepaper who will be playing the part of Dahlia when we get there, Akatsuki_IcyHot for playing Maya, and Scarlettjskipper for playing Phoenix! Without them this would never be possible! I play Miles, wrote this turnabout case (not the story but just the trial parts) and created/moderate the discord server here if you want to join and play a character: https://discorg.gg/Z7xzvGZ

Once again, stay cool everyone and take care! Till' next time! See ya then! Bye bye〜!
