A slight rustle outside the window threw me off edge. My senses on high alert, I silently strolled over to the large, frosted-over window. Examining the bleak, snow covered ground, my eyes wandered over to the fence, analyzing the brick barrier that circles the entire academy. The rustling disappeared entirely. I stood my ground, not making a single sound. Nothing moved. I glanced over to the other bed, a sleeping figure encased underneath the black and white flower patterned bedspread. Watching the fabric move up and down slightly, I stood there, mesmerized by the simple action of breathing.
“Aria... Go back to sleep. What time is it?” whispered Kristina groggily, shifting her position in bed to turn and face me. I walked over to my bed and plopped myself down on it.
"Three a.m., I think?" I replied. She groaned and flipped herself back to her original position, covering her head with a blanket. I chuckled.
"You know, just because you're a ghost and you don't require sleep doesn't mean you should deprive me of mine." I sighed.
"Really? Do you have to remind me I'm an abnormal freak all the time?" She turned back over to face me once again.
"Oh geez. I'm sorry, Aria.. I'm just crabby in the morning. Besides, you are not an abnormal freak!" she replied, the last part very sharply, slowly rising from her position in bed.
"Just face it, I am! I'm a freaking ghost! How in hell's name is that normal?" I shot back, pulling my knees closer to myself and grabbing them with my arms. Shoving my head into my knees, I added, "Kris, you don't get it. I'm just stuck here following everyone around. I won't ever get to live my life the way I'm supposed to. I won't ever get to be normal. For god's sake, I'm dead!"
"Aria, don't say that-"
"It's true, and you know it! Just face it," I interrupted, the words creating a deadly silence in the room. She never replied to that. She lay back down abruptly and turned away. All I heard was a bone-chilling silence for the rest of the night.

Really, really short first chapter, guys, sorry. I'm a noob at Wattpad so please enjoy. As well, comment, and vote. Tell me what you think, suggestions, or any grammar/spelling errors you may come across. I sadly do not have an editor (-cries-), so I work really hard to make sure I read over these chapters a bunch of times to make sure they're okay.
Kiara out~ :D<3
