"Welcome to Adagio."

"Oh my God." You almost stumbled and Ignazio tightened his hold on your hand to steady you. "It's ... huge!"

After a late-evening flight to Sicily plus a thirty-minute ride to the marina, you finally got to see Ignazio's boat with your own eyes—a big, beautiful, sleek white craft. The chrome rail that surrounded the deck was gleaming in the night lights of the marina and each curving blue letter of 'Adagio' looked like a three dimensional body of water.

"No," Ignazio laughed. "If it was huge, it would be called a yacht. This is a cabin cruiser."

Still, you were pretty sure your apartment was smaller than that.

Taking your hand, Ignazio helped you step on deck, then followed you aboard. "Let me show you around," he said, switching your duffel bag to the other shoulder.

The main entrance to the boat was at the back, via a wide teak swim platform, where an L-shaped sofa and an al-fresco dining table were. You walked into an impressive saloon that was a spacious living room, dining room, touring cabin and a space for enjoyment all at once. On one side there was a sizable U-shaped dinette—positioned in a way that anyone sitting on the sofas would definitely have an excellent view out—and on the opposite some cupboards with cutlery, dishes and drinks, as well as a liftable TV and sound system. According to Ignazio, the dinette could be converted to a berth, transforming the saloon into another sleeping cabin, and the rear sliding glass doors could be opened to form a big, open back space with the outdoor sofa. Also, both the glass saloon roof and the soft top over the cockpit could be opened for an open-air ambience.

Moving towards the front part of the boat, there was the cockpit with the steering wheel and its instrument panel, and a roomy and bright fitted galley below the helm.

"I've stocked the refrigerator with plenty of drinks and food," he said, waving toward the galley.

"Wow. I've never been on a boat like this. It's beautiful."

He smiled and held your hand, walking you downstairs to the lower deck, where there were two surprisingly spacious and airy cabins.

A lavish queen-sized bed took up most of the master cabin and the large windows on both sides gave light and a panoramic view of the surroundings. There was also a bench for dressing, two spacious wardrobes and plenty of room on the side shelves and under the bed that made the cabin very cosy and functional. The other cabin was similar, just a little less spacious, and had two separate beds that could easily be converted into a wide double bed. The toilet had stylish mirror cabinets and vanity units, and the shower had a separate stall with a closing glass door and venetian blinds. There was also a separate small technical space for all the electrical equipment and accessories for maintenance.

As Ignazio talked about the technical aspects of the boat—which clearly fascinated him—you were more interested in the lavish interior. All the colours, patterns and materials were of harmonic, stylish and elegant design.
