Note: In this oneshot the reader's gender is neutral so it can be either male or female c: Thanks. It was almost like a thunder storm.. in space?
All the meteors banging against the side of the ships almost sounded like explosions..
Like war in a way well to you, it didn't help the fact that it caused you to have a nightmare and now here you were up and about. Hugging yourself trying to find comfort but it didn't really help.It was about that one mission, that one god for saken mission.. You lost him/her.. Your best friend since basic training. Tears swelled up at the thought, you continue to blame yourself for him/her death but the other freelancers said it wasn't your fault but couldn't help but wonder.. what would have happened if you were just paying god damn attention.
~Flashback~
There was fireteam (Echo, Alpha. ect.) running for excitation, everyone was up ahead but him/her.. Both you and Agent (Friend) decided to stay back and cover their escape, now you had to get back help with the others as your ride was going to be there shortly..
His/Her motion tracker was damaged and you were to impatient to activate your own, it wasn't like you needed it anyways as you were coming to a close on the mission either way.
"(Codename)! Slow down-" "No we came too far to slow down now!" You were far too determination to appear on the leaderboard where only the best agents would get the honor of being there. "I know it's just I don't think it's safe to cross an open area like th-"
A loud pop could be heard even from miles away, then the sound of something falling over. It felt like slow motion as you turned around to see your best friend (Friend) there..
His/Her visor was covered in red as it was a clean shot through the head, through the visor..
The pain of losing the closest thing to having to family was far too painful it was unbearable, another round went off but you managed to jump out of the way and you had no choice but to turn and run..~End of Flashback~
You sat there, hugging your legs tightly and you could just imagine how red your eyes might be right this second..
There was a sudden knock on your door which caused you to jump, you decided to wait there for a second before there was another knock but louder..Letting out a sigh, you decided to quickly wash your face then rush for the door. Opening it with hesitance only to be greeted by your closest freelancer buddies.. York, Wash and Maine.. You rubbed your eyes at the rather bright light from the hallway lights. "Hello?" you asked lowly as if you've been crying- that was a dead give away no doubt.
Wash nervously cleared his throat as he was going to be the first one to speak "Um.. We just wanted to check up on you to see how you were doing." he said innocently and you gave him a small smile. "I'm fine, see?"
York didn't look like he believed you neither did Maine..York nudged Wash to continue "Oh right! I..- I mean we wanted actually wanted to see if you would want to spend the night with us." "Wait.. us?" you said rubbing your eyes. "Yeah us as in Maine, Wash and I" York butted in and you nodded slowly. "Yeah sure.. sounds like fun."

After grabbing your things and heading to their bunk that they would all be sharing that night, it was just quite interesting from there on out. First you all decided to watch a film but Wash wanted to watch something but York wanted to watch something in a completely different genre then Maine suggested something as well.
Then you guys needed to get some snacks and believe it or not that Maine wanted something sweet but York suggested something spicy and Wash well.. He likes washy.. things....
Afterwards you couldn't help but wonder.. "Where exactly am I going to be sleeping?" You spoke up and all three agents looked at one another..
'This is going to be a long night.' you thought as you felt yourself smile ever so slightly.
