DAN
An hour later we left the flat to go to Dena's house- I was finally going to meet her parents. I'll admit, I was really nervous; as in REALLY nervous. I had had other girlfriends before, but none for as long as Dena and never had I been so smitten with someone before.
As we left the flat Dena's fingers intertwined with mine and I felt myself properly relax for the first time that evening. Phil had been different these last few days, more on edge and irritable than I had ever known him to be. I thought it would be best for the both of us to get out of the flat and leave him alone for a couple days. After a few minutes we arrived at her house.
She looked at me. "Don't be nervous Dan, they're going to love you." She gave me a quick peck on the lips and turned around to ring the doorbell.
~later that evening~
Dena snuggled up to me in the double bed of her old bedroom. In all, the evening had gone well, I felt. However, as soon as I entered my first thought was- wow. Her house was absoloutley huge and elaborate- just like her parents. Her mother was dressed elegantly with a full face of makeup and her dad was wearing a tie. A tie, I tell you, and it wasn't even work. I had immediatley felt self conscious in my black attire and All Time Low top, but turns out I had nothing to worry about. Her parents were totally brilliant, and seemed genuinely interested in me. I was served a huge roast by butlers (YES BUTLERS) wearing suits. The conversation flowed smoothly and it was only until the issue of gay marriage was brought up that we hit a little kink in the road.
"Ridiculous, isn't it Dan?" Her father, Richard asked me.
"I know, I don't understand why homosexuals are considered to be so different-" I began, before Dena kicked me in the shin. I looked up and found Richard staring at me sternly. Shit.
There was silence for a few seconds. "Right." Said her father.
"Onto dessert then!" Exclaimed Dena, indicating to the butlers to bring the dessert in. I looked at her in alarm at stuffing everything up, but she just squeezed my hand and avoided my eyes.
"...so, this looks incredible. Did you make this, Mrs Thompson?" I asked Dena's mother in an attempt to redeem myself.
"Me? Oh no, Charlie, the chef, made this one. But the recipe is an old family one- we have it every Christmas." She smiled at me warmly. Phew, I'm back on track, I thought.
After finishing the meal and playing a quick game of Masterpiece with the family, we cuddled up in her old bed."Really, it was fine Dan. You were totally lovely to them, so polite. Didn't know you had it in you." Dena smirked at me.
"Hey!" I kicked her and gave her a tiny shove, grinning at her. "So what's the plan for tomorrow?" I asked.
"Well, I thought we could just take a walk around town and have a relaxed day? Also, I just bought the new 'Just Dance' on Wii and I can't wait to see your moves. The internet tells me great things." She giggled and attempted to do the sexy end screen dance there on the bed. I blushed but laughed at how odd she looked just wiggling around on the bed.
"Sounds good. And what you will see will truly blow your mind." I said. Dena started wiggling over to me, and I tickled her all over.
She started shrieking and laughing; "Dan! Get your paws off me you cheeky thing." She paused for a minute, then looked at me evilly. Then she dived over to me and started tickling my neck. I shreiked and it felt like my voice echoed throughout the quiet house. Dena burst out laughing and we heard the footsteps of someone coming into her room.
"Dena? Dan?" Her mother said. "What are you doing?" She switched on the light and looked completely stunned when she saw me lying half off the bed with Dena on my back.
"Well. Whatever you're doing, just don't wake the house up with your screaming." She shut the door and Dena laughed hysterically in silence, rocking backwards and forwards, rather resembling an athsmatic whale. It dawned on me then what this scene must have looked like. Oh dear.
"You little- you know I have a sensitive neck!"
"Pff, neck schmeck, you're just ticklish!" She dived into my neck once again, but I swatted her away. We stayed up til three am just chatting before falling asleep. I knew this following weekend was going to be a good one.
Phil
Friday evening was not the cleverest time to be taking the London underground. People flew past me and it took me half an hour to waddle to my platform, after many people knocking my bag off of my shoulders. As I jumped off the platform two hours later and pulled out my wallet to buy myself a coffee, I panicked. It wasn't in my bag. Shit, shit, shit. I knelt down on the busy platform to start unloading my bag, before noticing that the pocket that held my purse's zip was undone. Someone had stolen it. I looked around in panick. I was in a completely different area of the country with nothing but some clothes and a stuffed lion toy. How did it come to this?
Calm, Phil. I reached for my phone and automatically scrolled down to Dan's name on the contact list. No way. I couldn't face him laughing at me right now; usually we both laughed at my clumsiness but right now, I couldn't face his thinking me stupid. Right, who else? I then felt really stupid, because Dan was the main person. I had a few uni friends and my parents, but they were all the way up north. I looked in my back pocket and found a twenty pound note. Crappy motel it was, then.
