It has been a month since the men left and I still miss them, I think I always will, and we still play soccer a lot, even made up teams and team names. My team, the 'Stripy Zebras' won the grand final yesterday 1-0, it was a great match. Now whenever we play soccer we think of the men who brought the game to us and our village when we most needed it. The sport was a way to take our minds away from what the monsoon had taken from us. Now when I lie on the floor of our hut at night I think of the men who had come to our village, the stories that they would tell of the outside world and the strange things that I had never heard of before. I lie awake watching the stars in the sky through the smoke hole in our roof and think of the sea that I would go to someday when Chris came back to take me, to come back so we could go on our journey together. Just me and him, him and me. Ajayi and the man with the checkered ball.
