Jasper groans as he tries to sleep. Tatiana hated seeing him like this. He looked to be in so much pain. "His pulse is 180." Clarke tells her.
"Is that bad?" Tatiana asks.
"It's not good." Jasper gave a rather loud cry of pain.
"Go back to sleep!" Someone yells.
"Quiet!"
"Don't listen to them. You're going to make it through this. Promise." Clark tells him as she brushes his hair away from his face. Tatiana can see a tear forming at his eye. She couldn't imagine how much pain he must be in. Or maybe she could. She never had a spear thrown into her, but she had had other bad things happen to hurt.
"Can he just die already?"
"I really hate them." Tatiana whispers, brushing Jasper's tear away. "You'll be okay, Jasper." She promises. "Just ignore them."
"I'm going to go get clean water. Keep an eye on him." Clark tells Monty.
"I want to come with." Tatiana says. "I don't want to be in here with them." Clarke nods in understanding. They walk out of the ship and they can still hear Jasper. "I hate hearing him in pain."
"I know. I'm trying to do what I can."
"I know you are." Tatiana frowns and looks at Clarke. "What will happen if he doesn't get medicine?"
"I... He..." Clarke frowns. "He'll die."
"Oh."
"No!" They both turn as they hear a child yell. "No! No! No!" They move towards the sound and see a little girl sleeping. "Hey, wake up. It's okay. It's okay." Tatiana stares at the girl, her heart breaking. She was so young. The same age Tatiana was when she was arrested. "It was just a dream."
Tatiana brushes away the tears. "You're alright." Tatiana whispers.
"You're Charlotte, right?" Clarke asks. "I'm Clarke and this is Tatiana." Clarke holds the little girl's hand, making Tatiana ache. This little girl was just like Tatiana. Holding so much pain and so much weight on her shoulders. She is too young to have to deal with this kind of hardship. "It's okay to be scared."
"We're all scared." Tatiana whispers. "I'm scared. Clarke's scared. I bet you even Murphy and Bellamy are scared." This made the girl look at Tatiana. "I know, hard to believe, but everyone is scared. They just try to hide it."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Clarke asks.
"It's... my parents. They were floated and they-- and they seeded my dreams and I just--"
"Yeah, I understand." Clarke says as Tatiana wraps an arm around the girl.
"My dad.. He was floated." That made Clarke and the girl look at Tatiana. "He was stealing food for us. We didn't have enough to feed us. I was still so young and weak. So he stole extra rations and medicine for me. They found out and they floated him."
"My dad was floated too." Clarke says. They all share a silent moment. "So, how did you end up here?" Clarke asked the little girl.
"Well... they were taking my parents' things to the redistribution center and... and I kind of lost it. They said I assaulted a guard."
"I can't say I blame you."
"We all have moments we regret. Moments when we lose ourselves." Tatiana whispers. "We all have those moments."
"See that bright star up there?" Clarke asks, pointing to the sky. "That's the ark. Orbiting above us. I think whatever happened up there, you know, the pain. Maybe we can move past that now." Tatiana looked at Clarke as she said that. "Maybe being on the ground is our second chance."
