Meet & Greet

For some people it can take months, or even years to realise you can't live without them. However, there a few people, some you never encounter, that in a split second, a single glimpse, it is clear. When you look away, your heart seems to ach, as if broken. Fixed only when they appear once more. Their smile, a sun, in which you circle around, unable to live without. Your souls connected in that one moment, never to be ripped apart. From that moment on you can't seem to imagine a life where they don't play a part.

Butterflies form in my stomach, as the silhouette of a perfect man makes its way towards me. I fiddle with my fingers trying to hide my nervousness.

"I'm afraid we haven't met," he's voice is the sweetest, most beautiful sound I have ever heard. "Let me introduce myself, I'm William."

A smile creeps on my face, as he's face slides out of the darkness, revealing a handsome figure. His skin is quite pale, much like mine, covered in small freckles that seem to make him look childish. He's eyes seem to contain the most beautiful of green liquid, that changes colour with every movement. The most astonishing feature however, is not his eyes but he's hair, a light brown colour, that reveals to be ginger under the right light.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance." I place my hand out in front if him and he kneels down, kissing the back very lightly.

"Come take a seat," he gestures towards the long clothed table stretching the large window of the dinning room. A row of candles and pink, white and purple flowers line the centre. Our best silverware is set elegantly along the table, with a small tea candle sparkling next to the large wine glasses.

I make my way to the seat next to Ivy, and William takes a seat next to me. I raise an eyebrow and smile at him.

"Is this seat taken?" He asks, in a tone that I've only heard come from Ivy's lips. I chuckle slightly shaking my head, then turn to look at Ivy.

"Who is he?" She whispers in my ear.

"Another one of Mama's set ups." I sneak a peak at him, and he quickly looks away, pretending to look at the river that runs behind us, winding its way through the rows of trees.

The sun slowly slips behind the hills, sending the table into candle light. The trees rustle as if to gossip with one another. The dark night sky, glistens with endless stars, some as bright as the sun, others so dull you can barely see them. Mama says that the dull stars are prisoners whose sins were the death of them. The bright stars are angels, in which will never die, and are watching over the sinners.

"Shall we excuse ourselves from this horrid dinner?" William whispers in my ear. A smile creeps over my face.

"Oh but I couldn't. Mama would give me hell of a beating." I look up at him, his eye shining in the candle light. He looks at Mama then back into my eyes.

"Be a little rebellious, Ada. She's not your governess."

"Its Adaline to you." I chuckle slightly. "And she's nicer then my governess."

He rolls his eyes, then takes my hand.

"Please excuse us, Lady Winsornott. Adaline has promised to show me around the garden."

I shot him look. Mama's never going to agree, and I'm going to have to take the punishment for coming up with such an idea.

"It's Lady Adaline to you, and you are excused." She stares straight at me, her face emotionless.

"Oh really Mama it's not necessary, I can show William some other time." A sharp pain shots up from my foot, as William's large foot stomps on mine.

"What are you doing? " He whispers harshly in my ear.

I look around at the faces, all lit by the magical candle light. Ivy's eyes are full with confusion, as if to ask why I would turn down such an opportunity. A sigh flies out my lips.

"Fine."
