kindergarten sucks 💫

(some headcanons where aj be having a bad day and the others are not having him being a sad boi so yeah)

- aj always loved kindergarten

- whenever clem babysat aj he would always talk about how amazing his teacher is and how much he loves his class

- it didn't shock clem that whenever she was over that's the only thing he talked about, other than disco broccoli and other things

- what did shock clem is when he didn't talk about it. which was super rare, mostly impossible

- clem was picking up aj from his elementary school, and had bought some mcdonald's for them to munch on for when they got back to the house

- it was when aj stepped into the car clem noticed something was wrong

- super wrong

- he was frowning at the ground the entire time, and didn't even mutter a hello to clem

- she tried asking what was wrong, but he just stayed silent

- clem just sighed and started driving back to the house

- aj didn't even mention anything about the mcdonald's bags that were in the back seats

- it was just silence the entire ride

- clem didn't even dare play any music either

- once clem parked into the driveway of aj's home, the 5 year old didn't hesitate to slam the car door open and quickly rush into the house

- clem could hear him run up the stairs even from the car and slam a door shut, most likely his bedroom door

- she had never seen aj this upset, hell he was hardly upset whenever clem was around

- something was definitely wrong

- clem entered the house shortly after, the bags of food in her hands

- she knew she couldn't deal with aj by herself

- she needed backup, stat

- she called violet and louis first out of all the kids

- she knew aj had a stronger bond with those two

- right as she hung up on her call to both vi and louis, the doorbell rang

- well shit that was fast

- she let them inside, them immediately noticing the odd tension in the house

- louis: its too quiet

- clem: uh huh

- violet at the moment was in the kitchen, trying oh so hard not to eat the mcdonald's that layed in front of her

- it got so bad that clem had to drag vi away from the bags

- by the ear

- because that's just what clem does

- they settled down in the family room, clem catching vi and lou about the whole situation

- clem was planning on calling the others, but never got to it, so it was just her, violet, and louis

- in the spam of 10 minutes, they developed a plan

- one they hoped would work

- clem made her way upstairs to fetch aj while lou and vi stayed downstairs

- just walking towards aj's room sends goosebumps up clem's arms

- his door is hardly closed, so it felt weird walking to his room with a closed door

- clem gently knocked on the door, asking if aj was alright

- she got silence as an answer

- she knocked again, this time a bit more aggressive

- she heard the door softly unlock, it cracking open slightly

- clem walked in, seeing aj hugging one of his many plushies

- he was sitting on his bed, looking out the window at the park that was in the middle of his neighborhood, seeing the kids play on the playground and chase each other around the field

- clem sat beside him, noticing the dry tears streaming down his cheeks

- they sat in silence for awhile, watching cars enter or leave the neighborhood

- aj's sniffs broke the silence, him looking down at the yellow carpet

- clem pulled him into a side hug, him immediately hugging back

- after a good while of them just hugging, clem finally got the courage to ask what was wrong

- he told her someone made fun of his shirt at recess

- she just stayed silent while he struggled to tell her why he was so upset

- clem finally rose from the bed, motioning aj to follow her downstairs

- they were greeted by the mcdonald's bags in the kitchen, with louis and vi already snacking on one of them

- clem may or may not have chased them around the whole house because of that

- that did manage to put a smile on aj's face

- they ended up spending the rest of the night eating mcdonald's and watching some disco broccoli, aj's absolute favorite show

- once violet and louis left, clem and aj has the biggest sleepover

- well, the biggest sleepover you could throw with only two people

- either way, it was worth it

- completely worth it
