"Philly... Are you afraid of God?"
"No," They answered blandly, staring at her, "But I'm afraid of you."
Philly opened their eyes, the familiar scent of saltwater filled the area around them. They rubbed their eyes, tired still. It couldn't have been that long ago since the three left, but Philly didn't exactly remember getting onto the boat.
A voice spoke, bringing the brunette back to reality. "Are you going to just sit there?" A man, Ralph, asked.
"As compared to what?" A female, Erin, asked, "Standing?"
Strange as it is, Philly didn't know these two. Why they were on a boat with them is confusing to them as it is to you, trust me.
"Not standing," Ralph sighed. "Rowing." Philly furrowed their eyebrows at the two.
"Rowing?" Erin asked in a joking manner whilst grabbing a box. "I hadn't planned on it."
Erin turned, handing the brunette. They took it, shooting a confused look at the girl, who seemed to shrug it off. "So you expect me to shoulder the burden?" Ralph asked as Erin turned to look at him.
"No," She stated, as Philly furrowed their eyebrows at the box. Their name, 'PHILLY DEWITT', was engraved into a plate on it. "But I do expect you to do all the rowing."
Philly looked up, confused as Ralph continued to row. "And why is that?" He asked, playfully glaring at the redhead.
"Coming here was your idea," Erin stated, as Philly looked at their surroundings. Sea Sickness was getting to them.
"My Idea?" Ralph looked at her, furrowing his eyebrows.
Erin shrugged. "I've made it very clear that I don't believe in the exercise," She spoke, dryly.
"The rowing?"
"No. I imagine that's a wonderful exercise," She joked.
Ralph tilted his head at Erin. "Then What?" Philly looked up, squinting their eyes as they were met with a blinding light, maybe from the lighthouse.
"The entire thought experiment," Erin nodded to herself, bringing her hand up to her face, perhaps to fix her glasses but Philly couldn't tell for sure.
Philly brought a hand up, furrowing their eyebrows. "Excuse me," They spoke up. "How much longer?"
"One goes into an experiment knowing one can fail," Ralph stated, seemingly ignoring the brunette. They turned their head to the box in their lap, opening it.
"But one does not undertake an experiment knowing one HAS failed," Erin replied with a smile.
The box was full; The top had paper taped to it, A Code and an angel tower. A key. A gun. A flyer... And an image of a girl. She was pale, it was obvious, even in the black and white filter. Her hair wasn't that long, though it was pulled back into a ponytail, a bow over where the hair was pulled. She was wearing a dress, a bow in the back to top it off, but they couldn't see the rest of the dress. On the top left corner, a name was engraved into the image; Darwin.
"Can we get back to the rowing?" Ralph asked, furrowing his eyebrows at Erin's reply. Philly put the gun in their bag.
"I suggest you do," Erin closed her eyes, "Or we're never going to get there."
Ralph scoffed slightly. "No. I mean I'd greatly appreciate it if you would assist," He stated. Erin shrugged. Philly looked at the image, before turning it over. 'Bring to New York unharmed' was written on the back.
