Every few minutes someone walks through the doors and I turn around expectantly, letting less and less excited with every doorbell chime. I check the time, its almost 1... I pick up my bag and walk out of the cafe. Fuck my life... of course, this happens to me. I walk to to the bus stop, and of course, it starts raining. "Fuuuckkkk," I say, almost crying with frustration. I hug my arms and continue walking to the bus stop. When I get there I look up at the screen with the bus timetables, and I skim down all the way to my street, but it's gonna take a half-hour because of the rain. Really? I can't wait that long, I'm wearing denim shorts and a cropped shirt and it's fucking cold. Cars keep speeding past and the water comes up and sprays me all over. I grab my phone out of my pocket and call Bee.
B- Hello?
C- Oh my god, Bee I just got stood up by--
B- Hello?
C- Sorry, Hi, anyway, it's raining and--
B- Hellooooo? I'm just kidding, you have reached Bianca Dorety and I am unavailable at this time--
"Oh my fucking god it's that stupid fucking voice mail," I say, which earns me a few looks from other people at the bus stop. I Lean against a pole and slide down till my knees are against my chest, feeling my eyes well up with tears. I decide to just give up fighting and allow them to escape. I'm too angry at Baily for standing me up, and myself for being so stupid for actually thinking he'd go out with me. Also life for pissing on me when I'm already down. I feel my throat knot up and feels some sobs coming. I don't want to let them out, not that anyone would hear over the rain. I feel my phone vibrate with a text from Noah.
N - Hey, how'd it go?
I immediately call him, hoping to god that he picks up.
N- Hey Morriss, what's up?
All of a sudden I let go of the sobs and start explaining in a barely understandable jumble of words.
C- I was stood up for an hour, a-and I walked to the bus stop and it started raining, and I'm soaking wet and Bianca wouldn't pick up and everyone's judging me and--
N- Okay, okay, I'll be there in a sec.
And then he hung up and I laugh a little.

Within a few minutes, I see Noah's car pull up just in front of me. I wipe my eyes and stand up, wiping my butt, not that it's gonna do anything because my shorts are soaking wet. He gets out of the car and walks towards me, seeing that I'm dripping wet and takes off his hoodie. "Here," He says, passing it to me. I put it on and another tear escapes. This is why I don't cry. Once I start I can't stop. I wipe my eyes, and I feel Noah pull me in for a hug. I don't resist, I need one. I bury my head in the crook of his neck and let out a deep, needed sigh. "Come on," Noah says, "Wanna go back to your house?" He asks. I just nod, and he turns me around, putting an arm over me and walking us back to the car.
The drive was kind of silent. Except for the occasional sniffle from me, even though I stopped crying, my nose apparently didn't get the message. It turns out Noah was quite a sanitary person, he carries a small pack of tissues and hand sanitizer in his glove box.
When we get back to my house, Noah walks me up to my door and hesitates a second. "Yes, you can come in," I say, laughing and unlocking my door. He smiles and walks in after me. He sits down on the couch and I walk to the pantry. "You want something to eat?" I ask. He lets out an 'ahh' noise, then answers with "Always.". I laugh a little and grab a big bag of chips and bring it back to the couch. "Yum." He says. I smile and bring my computer from under the table and put it on my lap. "Wanna watch a movie?" I ask, and he nods. I bring up Netflix and browse the movies. I skip past this cheesy movie called Pay Me With Love, I've seen it a thousand times and I'm still not over it. "What's Pay Me With Love?" He asks. Honestly, I'm glad he asked. "Wellll," I say with a smile. "It's about this girl, Haley, who moves to new york to be an actress. Then moves back to her home town in Missouri because her acting career wasn't going to plan. Then, out of nowhere, her best friend from high school suddenly went from hot to not, so Haley has to--"
"Okay, so I'm guessing you watch this a lot?" He asks, laughing. I nod and smile.
"I've seen in with commentary as well," I say. Noah laughs and just says "Wow". I roll my eyes and click on a movie that looks pretty good, No Expectations. "I actually haven't seen this." He says. I shake my head. "Neither have I," I say. We both sit back and watch the movie, hearing nothing but the movie, and the occasional crunch of a chip.Eventually, it gets to a scene where Jane, the main character, gets stood up by Andy, the jock, and I just look down. God, must I be reminded of this awful experience? All of a sudden Noah reaches forward and pauses the movie. "Hey--"
"I'm so sorry." He says. I look at him, confused.
"Sorry for what?" I ask. Noah sighs and I get a little anxious. I hate emotional conversations.
"I just hate that he did that to you." He says. I feel the corner of my mouth tilt up.
"Dude, it's fine. I kinda knew it would happen anyway." I say. Noah shakes his head.
"No, he said that he would go out with you, he asked you out and then... I mean no guy should do that." He says. I look at him.
"So you've never stood a girl up?" I ask. Noah shakes his head.
"Nope. I've cancelled thousands of times, but I've never left anyone clueless, waiting for me with no way to reach me and..." He scoffs. I sit forward and place my hands on my lap.
"I told you, It's fine," I say. He nods and leans back again. I smile to myself. I didn't think he actually cared about me. But then again he did come to my rescue today. It feels good to have a friend that's actually... there. "Can I press play now?" I ask. Noah smiles and nods. I lean forward and press play.--------------------------------------------------------------
