Katie's POV
It's been a month since Nick asked Demi to promise herself to him and since Luke and I started dating. I am now able to run on my knee up to 2.5 miles, it's getting stronger and stronger as the days go on, infact my physical therapists were longer with us on tour. Aunt Dallas ran out of stuff to teach me while on tour so we just have a review day once a week, and too be honest thats the best thing ever because that means I could spend my time writing my music, currently Demi and I have two days until we get a week long break from the tour life. Demi had a concert tonight and I was performing with her as I have been since a month ago. She also had a few interviews tomorrow then we get to head home and I couldn't be more excited. Nick was staying over tomorrow night when we got home, in fact I'm pretty sure Demi is trying to convince him to move in with us. To be honest, I hope Nick does move in with us though. He's so awesome plus him and I have gotten alot closer and I recently decided that I will have no problem calling him dad once him and Demi get married, that is if hes okay with it.
All I have to say to that is thank god for the soundproof walls in the house. I don't need to be hearing what goes on in that bedroom.
Demi and I were already at the arena as were Christine and MKTO as well as Bea, soon Grandma Dianna and Grandpa Eddie along with Maddie arrived in the arena. Tonight would be the first night that my grandma and grandpa would see me perform on stage. I was a bit nervous for that, but I knew I would be fine.
"Oh Katie I have a surprise for you my darest daughter...well techincally three surprises" Demi called to me as she walked into the green room
"What is it mom?" I asked
"How would you feel if I gave you your own mini set today?" Demi asked me as she sat in the lounge chair thing across from me
"Oh my god! Are you kidding me? You better not be kidding me!" I said all in a rush
"No I'm not kidding you baby girl" Demi said?
"Mom thats amazing, thank you so much" I said
"No problem baby girl!" Demi said to me
"Way whats the second and third surprise?" I asked
"You have to wait until the end of the concert to find them out" Demi said to me
I jump out of my lounge chair and leap into her lap and gave her a super tight hug which she returned, a few moments later, Demi pulled away from the hug.
"Do you have any idea what songs you want to sing tonight in your mini set?" Demi asked me
"Yea I have a slight idea" I said
"Can I know these songs?" Demi asked me
"Sure mom you can know" I said
"Okay what are they?" Demi asked me
"Well I really want to sing some songs that you sang, those being: Believe in Me, Work of Art, as well as Me, Myself and Time. Then I want to sing an acoustic song that I wrote called You. I want to cover One and the Same, Little Me, Wake up America, One Last Time, Breakout, End Up Here, Naturally, Jealous, First Flight Home, and lastly Wildest Dreams." I said
"Those sounds all like really good choices" Demi said to me
"Thanks Momma" I said
"No problem baby girl, do me a favor and write those songs down for me" Demi said
I was a little confused why she asked me to write them down, but I did so anyways. I quickly grabbed a napkin off the table next to where Demi and I where sitting and scribbled them down then handed it to Demi.
"Thanks baby girl" Demi said as she kissed the top of my head
"Oh my god, I can't wait now! Shit I have to go practice the song You" I said
I got off Demi's lap and ran out of the room almost ran into Maddie and Bea. I ran out to the tour bus and started practing the song You.
Demi's POV
I watched as my daughter ran from the room with such excitment, it was quite funny to watch. I knew she was going to the bus to practice which made me let out a breath, a breath that I didn't know I was holding in. This made hiding everyone a little easier. That the same moment that she ran out, Maddie and Bea walked in.
"I assume you told her?" Maddie asked
"Kind of, no need to make her nervous" I said
"Wait told her? No need to make her nervous? Whats going on here?" Bea asked me
"The is going to be someone from Hollywood Records tonight, I gave Katie her own mini set while I do a change" I said
"Dude thats cool! I can't wait for later now" Bea said
"Did you tell her about everyone else coming?" Maddie asked me
"Whose everyone else?" Bea asked
"Maddie, No I haven't a don't tell her. And Bea- other people will be here. Them being One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Emblem3, Jake Miller, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Selena, Sabrina Carpenter, Lucy Hale and Little Mix and One Direction as well as Fifth Harmony and lastly Nick, will all be here. I have two rows reserved for them, towards the middle. They know that they have to get into the room they are supposed to be waiting in. Then we are doing a congratulations record deal surprise party dinner thing." I said
"Ohh" was all Bea said
"Don't you say a darn thing Bea" I said
"I won't gosh, I actually have to practice right now" Bea said to me
"Yea you go do that" I said
Bea soon left, then it was only Maddie and I left in the room until my mom and dad came in, greeting me at the exact same time.
"Mommy! Daddy!" I said as I ran over to them
I was scooped into a hug by both my mom and dad, they giggled at my reaction to seeing them. When they released me from the hug, we sat around and caught up for a little bit. I haven't seen them since I left for the beginning of my WORLD TOUR, so I missed them a whole bunch. Soon my phone rang out Nick's ring tone. I pulled out my phone and saw that I had a text from him,.
From My Man
Everyone is in the hideout room. You're clear to get her to let her run through everything on stage.
To My Man
Awesome. Thanks Babe
As soon as I put my phone away from replying to Nick, the stage manager Dylan came into the room.
"Demi, is everyone already in the room that is supposed to be there?" Dylan asked
"Yea Dylan everyone is already here" I responded
"Alright does Katie have her set list ready?" Dylan asked
"Yes she does, let me get it for you" I said
"Alright" Dylan said
I gave the napkin that Katie wrote her song titles down on to Dylan
"Awesome thanks Demi. I'll have the sound team work on getting tracks ready for these and then ill give the band the note sheets to practice on" Dylan said
"Thanks Dylan" I said
Dylan just nodded his head while he left the room, already talking on his walkie talkie and telling the titles to the sound team. I heard Katie singing all these songs for vocal warm ups as well as on the bus whenever she was bored. I had no doubt that she would be beyond amazing tonight.
"What's happening with Katie tonight?" My mom asked me
"Well for the last month she has been performing with me on stage, earlier this week I got a call from a Hollywood Records agent and they want to sing Katie. Apparently they have seen videos of her singing and they want her. So I invited a lot of people that I know she either likes or that I have known for a while and they are in a secret room, we are celebrating with her later tonight. But the best part is that she chose songs by everyone that's here tonight" I said to my mom
"Awh! I not only get to see my grand-daughter perform tonight but I also get to see her get her first record deal" My mom gushed
"I can't wait Demi, I got to see you get signed and now I get to see my first grand-daughter be a signed artist" My dad said
We ended up hugging again but that hug was cut short by Natalie coming into the room.
"Demi, lets run through your sound check. Then we will do Bea after her will be Christina and then lastly MKTO. During your meet and greet we will have Katie do her sound check" Natalie said
"Alright leggo" I said
Natalie and I left the room and walked towards the stage while my mom and dad went to go find Maddie and Bea then go on my bus. I wonder how Katie's praticing is going, I had to put that on the back burner of my thoughts as I arrived on stage and was given a mircophone. My band and I ran through select songs for soundcheck. Once that was done, I was able to relax on the bus with my family before I had touch ups down on make up then my meet and greet. While the meet and greet was going on, Katie was going to do her soung check. I was a little sad that I was missing her first solo sound check but there will be more that I will be able to watch.
I had just finished sound check and now am going to the tour bus for some family time, also to send Bea to sound check, she was bound to be with my family. When I got to the bus, I opened the door and heard a guitar winding down and claps. I approached area where I allow Katie to keep her game systems hooked up.
"That was beautiful Katie" My mom said
"Thanks grandma" I head Katie say
I walked into the area and Katie saw me. She smiled at me and I returned that smile.
"Bea, you're up for a sound check" I said
Bea just nodded her head and left the bus.
"Can you play another song baby girl?" I asked Katie
Katie nodded her head and picked up her guitar. She played an acoustic of All About That Bass by the very lovely Megan Trainor. God, I was envious of her voice. It was so innocent and pure. Just like I have, she has an extremely powerful voice and I know it will only grow from here.
Time melted away and soon I was taken from my bus by Natalie. I was to go to get my touch up done as well as change into my performance outfit then go to meet and greet. As I left the bus, I heard Natalie telling Katie that she had sound check and to follow her.
I couldn't help but smile to myself, as I walked further and further into the arena I found that my smile grew. I was so excited for tonight.
Katie's POV
I followed Natalie to the stage for my sound check. I was doing an acoustic song but I also had to check sound with my moms band.
I only ran through two songs for my sound check because five previous people had already held sound check and the instruments were in perfect working order. So after sound check, I was ushered to get my make up touched up as well as get dressed for the concert. I was wearing an unzipped leather jacket that had a blue palid hood attached to it under I had a Jake Miller t-shirt with blue jeans that where skinny but flared out toward the bottom and for shoes I wore Nike gym shoes that where grey and white and avaitor sunglasses. I looked rather casual but thats how I like it. After I was done getting dressed, Maddie came to me and told me that Demi wanted to see me.
"I'm so excited to watch you tonight K" Maddie said as she hugged me
"Thanks Mads" I said
After that, Maddie and I made slow talk until we arrived outside Demi's room. My family was waiting outside.
"She wants to speak to you in private" my Grandma Dianna said
I just nodded and walked into the room, not bothering to knock on the door because I knew she was in there alone.
"Hey mom, you wanted to talk to me?" I asked as I approached her
Demi stood up and met me halfway and brought me into another hug.
"Not really talk, I actually wanted to give you something and wish you good luck tonight" Demi said to me
"You had me nervous mom" I said
"I'm sorry. Now turn around baby girl" Demi said to me
I did as I was asked. I felt something light fall upon my neck. I looked down and saw a necklace, it was actually half a heart that was engraved with the word daughter written on it and if you turned it over it had Kaitlyn, also on the chain was a metal guitar pick which was also engraved with . Demi reached into her shirt and pulled out a heart that that mother written on it then if you turned it over it had Demetria. Her chain also had a metal guitar pick engraved. Hers said: My daughter is the reason for my smile and under it was our initials as well as 4-10-2014 (the day she adopted me). I read my guitar pick said: My mom is the reason I'm always laughing and under where our initials as well as my adoption date. I couldn't help but smile, I didn't realize that I was crying until Demi wiped away a stray tear. Besides for the daily love that Demi gives me, this is the best gift that I could ever ask for.
I wrapped my arms around Demi's shoulders, Demi followed but brought me closer to her. We stood there in each others embraces. I felt her lay her cheek on the top of my head. Soon there was a knock on the door and Demi called out that they could come in.
"Well aren't y'all the cutest thing out there" I head my Grandma Dianna gush
This just made me blush and shuffle closer to Demi. Soon Demi parted ways from our hug but we sat down on the couch together and I cuddled into her shoulder, Demi wrapped her arm around my shoulder.
"Thank you momma, thats the best gift ever besides for you and your love" I said
"Awh, you're so welcome baby girl. I love you so much and I am so excited to see you perform" Demi said, kissing the top of my head
We sat like that, making small talk with our family for a little while before Natalie came in and told Demi that we have 15 minutes before the concert starts. With that Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Dallas and Maddie went to get their seats while Demi and I went to our little prayer circle.
Demi and I walked, side by side to prayer circle. Where Bea, Malcolm, Tony and Christina where already waiting for us. Once we got into the circle, we all spread apart into a big circle and joined hands. Today Demi led prayer, and today was a rather quick prayer. Once we broke apart, Malcolm and Tony got ready to rock the stage.
Thirty minutes after they took stage, their set was done and Christina was getting ready to take the stage. We were just waiting for the stage crew to take done MKTO's gear and put the regular stuff up. Soon the stage was ready and Christina and her band where up on stage and rocking out. Afterwards Bea took the stage and she rocked it out, her vocals always impress me. Once she was done, Demi waited 10 minutes before she ran out on stage singing the lyrics to Really Don't Care.
While Demi sang, the stage tech crew mic'd me up. That was a quick process, I put my ear plugs around my neck and waited on side stage, watching my awesome mom rock out.
Demi sang the usual set list which besides Really Don't Care included: The Middle, Firestarter, Remember December, Heart Attack, My Love Is Like A Star and Catch Me.
After Catch Me, Demi announced me.
"Today, I have a special surprise for everyone out there today. Earlier today I decided to give my daughter Katie her own mini set today. So if everyone could please give a warm welcome to my daughter up on stage." Demi said while I put my ear plugs in
With that I grabbed my guitar and ran up on stage. As I ran up, I waved to the crowd. When I reached Demi, she flung her arm around my shoulder and continued speaking.
"Are you guys ready?" Demi asked
The crowd screamed out their response. Demi turned to me and asked me if I was ready, I brought my microphone to my lips and answered.
"Yeah, I'm ready"
"Alright everyone, have a blast listening to my daughter rock out here and Katie good luck" Demi said to me before running off stage
Once she was off stage, I put the mircophone into the clip on the stand and adjusted the mircophone on the guitar and then spoke.
"So this song is a song that I wrote, I called it You. Hope you guys enjoy, without further a do here is you" while putting my sunglasses into my jacket pocket
I turned to the guitarist to my right and gave him a nod. He led into the song and I followed him, playing a few chords then I started singing.
