Jennie's POV:
I roll my eyes and try to walk off but Lisa had quickly snatched onto my wrist,
"I said, What letters and what messages?" She repeats her question. I look up at her and felt my heart drop seeing actual confusion in her beautiful brown eyes.
"You really don't know do you?" I asked in a whisper. She shakes her head and tightens her grip on my wrist. Not tight enough to hurt me but tight enough to radiate something so familiar to me. I took a deep breath,
"Hearing you were leaving to Thailand after a month of our break up, I tried everything to contact you again. I messaged and called you so many times. I even came to your house," I stated while looking away from her. I felt pathetic.
"Y-you came to my house?" She asks almost completely stunned. I furrow my eyebrows and turn to face her,
"Yeah. You told your mom you didn't want to see me. She told me herself," I pointed out. Lisa then drops my wrist and stares at me with fury. The fury wasn't towards me. She takes a deep breath and clenches her fists.
"What else about the letters?" Lisa asks lowly. The tone of her voice frightened me. I wasn't frightened by her per se, I was frightened about what is about to come. I cross my arms and focus my gaze back down on the floor.
"For a year, I wrote you letters. Every day. But you never wrote me back or tried to contact me in any way. And seeing you now it— it just.." I drag out while lifting my gaze back into the her eyes that seemed pained. Sadness developed in her eyes. And it hurt. It hurt so much. I quickly clear my throat and let out a shaky breath.
"You moved on and I was too late," I said. My voice breaking slightly as the pain in my chest increased. I wiped away a tear that had suddenly slid down my cheek and took in a deep breath.
"It doesn't matter anymore that you never got any letters or my messages. The past is the past. It's meaningless to dwell over it," I force out. Lisa remains silent which grew the awful feeling in my chest.
She silently agreed didn't she?
I let out a breath and turned around and went to walk away till she spoke ever so softly,
"You think our past is meaningless to me?" She asks. I froze and refused to turn around. She took my silence as a cue to continue,
"Jennie, we were only 16 but I already knew I loved you. How could you think that it meant nothing to me?" She asks. I turn around to protest but she had quickly cut me off,
"I was forced to break up with you," she admits. I stood frozen in my stance. Not knowing what to say or do. I didn't even know what to feel. Lisa spoke again,
"My mother forced me to. And then decided to make me leave to Thailand. She took my phone and computer so I had no way to contact you," she says with so much anger and hatred. She looks down and clenches her jaw,
"And when I came back after turning 18, you were gone." She says. She slowly reaches for her hand and fiddles with the ring,
"But when our friends said that you were back, I was going to go fight for you. But then I heard you had a better life now as a successful wedding planner. So who was I to ruin it for you?" She says while lifting her eyes. I gasped as tears started brimming her eyes.
"So, you thought that I didn't need you?" I asked in disbelief. She furrows her eyebrows and goes to speak but I quickly cut her off,
"I needed you everyday. And to me? I'm not the one with a better life. You are. You're getting married. You moved on." I stated rather loudly. She takes a step forward causing my heart to beat wildly against my chests towards the sudden lack of space between us.
