Dr. Melinda reached for the pen off her desk while I fidgeted in my seat directly across from her. This was supposed to be an evaluation/consultation session by she felt the need to start right away. I was a complete nervous wreck and I didn't want to be in this office. While she flipped to a new page in her notepad, she crossed her legs and looked intently at me. I mean like at me as if she was trying to find the root of my problems in my eyes.
This of course made me completely nervous so I began messing with the engagement ring on my finger.
She fixed her glasses and smiled sweetly.
"I'm ready when you are." She began in a calming tone. It was a way to get me to relax. I took a deep breath and remembered I was here to get and fix and find the root of my issues that were slowly eating at me. I had to do it for Us. I cleared my throat and weakly smiled.
"Well then, let me start with high school. That's when things in my life started to go downhill."
