And You Never Knew

"Cat Noir! You need to stop!"
I was trying really hard to be serious with the silly black cat.

"Why My Lady? You know you want to," he purred suggestively. His slender frame was hunched over me as his hands nestled my back. The green of his eyes sparkling with expectation.

"You know why Kitty. My heart belongs to someone else," I whispered. I reached up to stroke his golden locks. A deep hum escaped the back of his throat.

"I know that, but my heart belongs to you my Lady. I cannot control the way I feel about you. Please understand," he pleaded.
When I didn't respond, he dislodged his arms from around me and took two steps away.

"I have tried to forget about you. There was this girl..." Cat Noir blushed slightly.

"Oh."
"Did you like her?" I asked him. Something stirred in me at the thought of him liking someone else.

"I-I did. I thought I could get over you that way you know? She's really something. Sweet and funny. I knew she liked me."

He ran his hands over his face and through his hair as though stressed. His jaw was set not even a hint of humor on his lips.

"Cat Noir... I'm sorry. I didn't know you cared so much about me."

Cat Noir laughed. It was a bitter one.

"Of course I cared so much. You don't have to apologise. I should be the one apologizing to Marinette. I've been avoiding her because I've been bitter.
I like her, I do, but I love you. Marinette is sweet and I'm sure she'll get over me with time, but My Lady I'll never get over you. I need you," he said softly as he met my eyes.
In one swift movement, he'd cornered me against a wall. The way he looked at me made me shiver.

My mind was racing. Cat Noir liked Marinette? But I haven't been spending time with him as Marinette. What did he mean by avoiding her? She'll get over him with time? I - Marinette- doesn't even like Cat Noir. She likes Adrien. Although 'like' is an... Understatement 😅

"Hold on Cat. You've been spending time with Marinette?" I asked puzzled.

Cat Noir leaned in closer to me, his lips looked moist. I could feel butterflies banging away in my stomach. Did I swallow an Akuma some how?

"Does that make you feel jealous my Lady?" his breath brushed against my skin and I shudder involuntarily. He noticed and smiled slightly. He ran his index finger from my temple to my jaw and tilted my head up to him. Inches. Mere inches separated our lips. Did I want to close the gap? It wouldn't be hard...

"Stop," I managed with a cough before pushing him away. For some reason Cat Noir's flirtatiousness was really getting to me today.

"I'm not jealous of Marinette. Why should I be?"

"Because, she's been getting all of this," he said proudly with an elaborate hand sweep.

I rolled my eyes and almost laughed.

"So you just go to her house in your outfit? Wouldn't that draw unnecessary attention? She doesn't seem like the type who'd like that very much Kitty,"

I should know, I thought to myself.

"Marinette's in my class. We spend loads of time together when I'm not off saving Paris," he replied.

I choked although I'm not sure on what.

Cat Noir's in my class? I can't believe this! My mind screamed. Who could he be? Max? Kim? Nino? No. There's no way!

"You look so shocked Bugaboo. Did you think I had a job? I'm pretty sure we're around the same age," Cat Noir called stirring me from my mental frenzy.

"Don't call me that!" I snapped, " and no I didn't think that you had a job. With your immaturity of course you'd still be in high school,"

"Ouch. Cranky much? Hmm you sure you're not jealous?" he questioned again, "Marinette's a real prize you know, but I'd give her up for you any day," he said. I glared at him as he stretched himself.

I wanted to reach out and slap that smirk right off his face.

I wonder whose face I'll be slapping under that mask?

"Cat Noir... Who are you?"
For some reason I felt a sudden jolt of curiosity.

"I'm Cat Noir your super hot and clever superhero," he answered. He wasn't smiling even after his clever response.

"With all due respect my lady why are you suddenly interested in my identity? You're the one who said our identities must be kept from each other,"

I shook my head and reached out to him. Who was he? He goes to my school, he hangs out with me...

Cat took a step back, his eyes closed to mere slits.

"Why the sudden interest?" then he smiled, "You are jealous! All this time I've been trying to get your attention and this turns you on? Seriously? What? Are you afraid Marinette took your place?"

"Just so you know she loves Adrien not me. Cat Noir's all yours," he beamed proudly.

"You know Adrien?" I asked meekly. Cat Noir didn't respond.

"Cat?" I pressed for his response.

"Apparently you're impressed with him as well. Why? I'll never know," he stated while shrugging.

I slowly wrapped my arms around myself as I thought up a response.

"Adrien is... different Cat Noir. You wouldn't understand. Marinette's got a good eye for gold," I replied. I didn't realize I was smiling as I spoke. The look on Cat Noir's face made me aware.

"It's him isn't it?" his question caught me off guard, "she gets that same look whenever she sees him," he continued.

"Who?"

"Adrien. That's who you're in love with my lady. Marinette gushes over him the same way you do. Trust me I'd know," Cat Noir stated with an elaborate roll of the eye.
I knew it was inappropriate, but I started giggling, softly at first, but then it turned into full on laughter.

"Y-you're jealous aren't you? I asked in between giggles, "you're jealous of Adrien,"

Cat Noir glared at me and then smirked. His green eyes gleaming with secrecy.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk my lady. Now why would I be jealous of myself?

End.
