Christian Coma's POV

I found this cabin a few days ago, It seemed deserted so I started coming here after school to work on my art. I was drawing the face of the most beautiful girl ever to me. Skylar. She went to my school, we were both seniors, both into the same music, but she never seemed to notice me. I was about to start drawing her mouth when I heard the door slam. I froze! Maybe this place isn't deserted after all. I got up and walked out the room, checking to see if anyone was there. I heard heavy breathing, and crying. I looked out to see Skylar; she was on the floor crying. She had a cut on her head, and on her face and a black eye.

"Skylar!" I shouted, starting to panic as I knelt at her side. "What's wrong? Are you okay?!" I almost screamed. Her eyes were closing. She seemed to smile at me, and the she was out.

"Skylar! Where'd you go honey" Said a deep, ice-cold voice. And I recognized it immediately. Danny! What has he done to her?! I thought to myself. I heard footsteps coming closer. I picked up the lifeless body of Skylar and ran to the closet. I sat there with her in my arms as I heard the door swing open. I listened to the stomping coming closer to where we were. I heard a grunt, and then I heard a bottle smash. "GODDAMN IT!" I heard Danny yell, as I then heard him retreat back to the door. I heard it slam, then let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding. I got up, with Skylar still in my arms, and walked out the closet. I laid her on the old dusty couch and got the blanket I brought with me and covered her up so she wouldn't get cold.

I sat on the floor for about 3 hours watching her sleep. She looked so peaceful. I then realized her cuts were still bleeding. I stood up and, reluctant to take my eyes off her, walked to get my bag. I grabbed a bottle of water and a piece of cloth and walked back to her. I knelt down and poured the water on to the cloth. I gently started dabbing it on her cuts, trying not to wake her, but I failed.

Her bright blue eyes fluttered open, looking around the room curiously. Then they landed on me. I smiled, trying not to freak her out. Again, I failed. Her eyes opened wider with shock and terror. I didn't know what to do. So, being me, I offered a shy waved. She just stared at me. Then she seemed to calm a bit.

"Ummm, hi. Sorry, I didn't know anyone lived here. I just-" I cut her off by holding my hand up. Then spoke, surprisingly, without stuttering.

"I don't live here. I don't think anyone does. It's okay." I smiled at her, and she smiled back, looking down at her hands.

"Uhh, sorry, I know I should know, but, what happened last night? It's all kinda blurry." She said, giggling at herself as she said the last word. I looked at my feet and started explaining.

"Uhh, well, as far as I can tell, Danny got drunk and hit you a few times, and then you ran off, came in here, and passed out. Then I heard him coming towards us and so I hid you and myself in the closet till he left. Then I put you on the couch, put a blanket on you, and let you sleep. Then I started cleaning your cuts and you woke up." I think I explained it pretty clearly, but a look of curiosity crossed her face. Then, it was replaced with a small shy smile as she looked down.

"Why would you protect me? That's what I don't understand. I mean, don't get me wrong, I am grateful, very grateful. It's just that, you don't know me." She looked up, a sad expression crossing her face as she said the last part.
