Ryker…that’s a different kind of name I guess. I wonder what else I can get out of him, “What high school do you go to?” He let out another heavy sigh as though to amuse me. “I go to Timberling High School, a couple miles from here…You?” Why have I never seen him before…”I actually go to the same place. I haven’t seen you around though.” “Huh, that’s weird.” His response made me unsatisfied, like a piece of the puzzle was missing. He spoke up again, this time his voice sounded witty and pissed, “Maybe it’s because I’ve been in this hell hole for who knows how long.” I’m an idiot. “Sorry, I just thought this was only recent you got put in here…Wait, why are you in here anyways?!” “That’s something I’d like to know myself actually.” Gosh, he probably thinks I’m so dense. I heard the clicking of heels down the dark corridor. “Dinner time my pets.” Mother… She slid the food trays under the bars and down a smaller shoot to Ryker. “That’s my good boy, Rykie.” Rykie? Seriously Mother…seriously? “I’ll eat this crap you make when I’m out of here, alright lady?” His stood up quickly and his voice rose up and reminded me of the bad boy type of personality, but his appearance didn’t quite match up. He looked around six feet tall, at least. Blue crystals filled his eyes and dark brown hair came down in waves across his tan complexion. He seemed to be a sporty type because to be honest…this dude was crazy fit. “Excuse me?” Mother’s voice became confused and angered. “Did I not make myself clear? You are crazy and I want out. Now.” His voice, so full of rage, it made me shake a bit. Her eyes lowered and her voice grew deeper, almost as if she was possessed. “Do we need to train you like your friend…what was his name?” His face grew grim and full of despair. “Ahhh, I remember. Chasie! Ooo, he was such a nice boy, too bad he couldn’t take my training…” No…what did she do? “His name is Chase, not Chaise.” His expression still focused on her like stone. “Mother, what did you do?” She turned towards me and just smiled. “I wanted to play. He didn’t. Simple as that dear.” You sick woman. “Now, let’s get you out of this dark corner and back to bed.” She held her hand out toward me with the cell door slightly open. I look down at Ryker. He was looking at her like he was imaging her death in the moments we spoke. “No. I’ll stay in here until I die if I have to.” I look at him again and his face was locked onto mine, full of disgust. I don’t understand…I don’t want to leave you here alone. I want to help you. “Fine, you’ll have one more day and then your Father will fetch you next time.” She slammed the door and walked off.

“You’re such an idiot.” He rolled his eyes and plopped back down in his cell. “What did I do?! I want to help you get out of here! This is the thanks I get from you?!” Silence…well good. I didn’t want to talk anyways. Another sigh rose up from his cell. I’m over this. “Is that all you are going to do? Sigh at me all the time, huh?!” He started to laugh this rich laugh that sounded happy for once. “I could, but I’m just pissed because freedom was handed to you and you didn’t take it. While I’m stuck here and would do anything for that chance to get out. But hey, at least I got something.” He held up his arm to reveal a key at the end of it, followed by a huge and killer smile. “How did you…” When did he even get close enough to take the keys from her? “Hey, I may look like a nice guy, but I’ve had enough training in the rare art of pickpocketing in my time.” “Smooth.” He undid his cell’s lock and ran up the stairs to my level. When I saw him, he came up with a backpack of stuff, like he was getting ready for school or something. “Is all that really necessary Ryker? It’s not like we are going to school anytime soon after this.” He looked over and started to smirk. “Well actually, that’s exactly where I’m heading next.” This dude, he makes no sense! “You care to explain or nah?” He unlocked my cell and headed for the back door. “Well to be honest, it’s pretty safe there. It’s out in the open, lots of rooms, supplies, a lot of pros to it really.” “But it’s dark now and isn’t it against school laws to be there past hours?”  He stopped dead in his tracks. It’s something I said, I know it. I’m too goody-two shoes for my own good. He turned towards me and simply said. “Nerd.” He walked on, like nothing happened. He thinks he’s soo witty huh? He got up to the door, but it was locked as well and needed a different key. “Well thanks genius, but you didn’t pocket enough keys.” He let out a small laugh and moved on. “We need to find another door or window…something!” I froze as I heard the clicking of heels again. “Kassidy, darling, I seem to be missing a certain key,” Oh gosh…why now. “Shh, don’t make any noises, alright?” He had his finger over his lip, looking intently at me. “Gotcha. Lead the way.” The footsteps became closer. “Kassidy? Rykie?!” She knew we had left and she knew this place from top to bottom, giving her the advantage. “Over there.” I looked over and saw a small window at the top of a wall. “It’s too tall for us to get to.” I’m only like five and a half feet, so what’s a girl to do haha? “We run, and I’ll help you over and follow you from behind. We have to be quick though. This is a race and I have no intent on losing.” “Haha it’s like Race to Witch Mountain, but Race to Timberling High huh?” I really am such a nerd. “Wait, what?” He looked funny and confused. Has he never seen that movie or what?! “Ha ha never mind. No time to waste, let’s go!”
