After sitting through Calculus, I had study hall, and surprise, surprise, Luke did, too.
Before the Calculus teacher began class, Luke had been saying something, and I wanted to ask, but I didn't want to seem pushy.
And who knows, maybe I imagined him beginning to start a new sentence after the extremely unexpected and completely out of the ordinary "you're cute".
In study hall, Luke was back to being elusive and quiet.
What's up with this guy?
I was contemplating whether or not to talk to him and find out his deal, when I saw a flash of blonde hair at the door to the room.
I spin around and whisper-yell, "Kathryn!" which turned out to be more of a yell than a whisper.
She breaks into a smile after seeing my goofy grin and we hugged, right before being shushed by the teacher.
We giggle and sit at a table in the back of the room.
She must've noticed me glancing at Luke every now and then so she asked, "Got a crush I see?" She asked it while wiggling her eyebrows, something that I wish I could do.
I laugh and say, "No. We just met! He's just confusing me. I think he may be bipolar. Should I talk to him, find out what's up?"
She shrugs and raises her eyebrows, as if to say, 'Do what you want, but that's what I would do.'
I nod, taking a deep, shaky breath before getting up and heading over to his table.
There were 2 other guys on the other side of his table, and when I sat down next to Luke, they all 3 looked up from their books and then returned their focus back to their studies, except Luke, who kept his beautiful blue eyes on me, burning holes on my skin and making me blush profusely."Uh, hi." I say, looking up at him. Damn, he was tall, even sitting down. I'd be lying if I said I hate tall guys.
He continued to stare at me.
"Are you okay?" I ask, wondering why on earth he had to stare at me so intensely instead of responding to my question.
He shook his head, as if waking from a trance. "Yeah, yeah. Fine. Uh, do you need something, or..?"
"Well, no. I just... Well... This any sound a bit weird, but I just want to find out about you and your.. your story, so to speak. You just kind of... intrigue me." I say, hoping I don't sound completely stupid.
He smiles, a smile I've begun to be captivated by, and says, "If you want to know about me, I'm going to have to find out more about you first. I'm rather different than most people, if you can't already tell."
I laugh softly. "Okay, well what do you mean?" I ask, just as the bell rings.
"I have a long history and I'd rather tell someone I know an trust instead of a girl I just met and had 3 classes with on the first day at a new school."
I nod, seeing his point.
"We don't have to be strangers." I blurt, almost like I had no volition on my words.
At that, he smiles, and as he gets up for his next class, I see him slightly motion for me to follow him.
I don't know what it is about him, but I was drawn to him, almost like iron shavings to a magnet. I follow behind him, knowing that, strangely enough, I would take almost any chance to learn more about him.
