Chapter 8. Swimming Pool

*THE PAST*

A day later after the whole stand-up drama, J was still bruised but not as bad as that day. So J goes to a diner close to his apartment.
In the diner J is eating alone, like always. Then a waitress named Julianna aproaches J.

Julianna: "More coffee?"

J: "No...no thanks"

J and Julianna know each other because they both went to
high school. In Precalculus, Julianna would always ask J if she could copy the work from him. J hated that, but at the end he would let her because if he refused to, Julianna would talk shit saying he's a pussy or something. J didn't want to risk it so he just did what he had to do.

Julianna: "Hey, would you like to come with me and my friends to the Gotham City public swimming pool at night today?"

J: "Nah I can't"

Julianna: "Come on, it's my birthday"

J: "I don't think so, I don't know your friends"

Julianna: "Hey it's not bad to meet some new people, maybe you can use some of your comedy with them"

J: *pointing to his bruised face* "This is what happened when I used it"

Julianna: "But they're not like those people, my friends are chill"

J: "Chill? Really? We're grown ups for fucks sakes"

Julianna: *teasing J* "Aw but what if I get intoxicated and a guy tries to abuse me?"

J: "(Sigh) Fine I'll go"

Julianna: *kissing J in the cheek* "Thank you! It's at 9 pm. If you arrive early you're more than welcomed to get in the pool before us"

J: "Ok, happy birthday, now leave"

At night J arrives at the Gotham City public swimming pool. Since he arrived early, he gets in the pool and swims for a little while, now what J has to do is wait.

9 pm...

No one's there yet.

10 pm...

No one's there yet.

11 pm...

No one's there yet.

12 am...

No one's there yet.

1 am...

Not a single fucking person is there.

At the end, J gets tired of waiting, it's already late, it's cold, and no one's there so he puts on his clothes and decides to go to Julianna's house to know what happened.
J arrives to Julianna's house, and he knocks on the door, he heard noises inside, music, people talking, people laughing.
So one of Julianna's friends named Krysten opens the door, she smelled like alcohol.

Krysten: *drunk* "Yeah?"

J: "Hey is Julianna here?"

Krysten: *holding J from the hand and bringing him inside the house*
"Yeah, yeah she's inside, come in, come in"

J: "Thanks"

Krysten: "Hey Julie!! Someone's looking for you!"

Julianna was also drunk, she sees J and bursts out in laughter.

J: "What the fuck Julianna?"

Julianna stands up on a chair and makes an announcment to everybody in the party.

Julianna: *laughing* "Oh my god! Guys! He actually did it! He went all by himself to the pool!"

Everybody starts laughing at J. It was all a prank, a mean one, might as well kick him in the balls.

Krysten: *turning to J* "That was you?!! Oh my god you're such a dumbass!!"

J gets really pissed, he has never been humiliated like that before, he preffered another beating from the gang, but no.

J: *pissed* "You all need to fucking grow up! You guys are not in high school anymore!"

Julianna: * laughing* "Oh my god he wants to cry!"

Julianna's male friend named Anthony yells "Kobe!" and throws an empty can of beer at J, so he leaves Julianna's house really, really pissed, and once again, everyone laughs. Then Anthony takes a drunk Julianna to her room.

Julianna: "What are we doing here?"

It's dark outside and J runs through the streets to his apartment, once he arrives he goes to bed and cries...just...cries.
