sorry for the long wait; here's chapter 19!
The next day went by in a flash. school's different without Anna, everything seemed different without her.
The bell at 4:10 finally rang, and I was the first to rush out of the classroom. I drove to a nearby stationery store to get all the supplies that I would need for my plan. I pushed the door open and a familiar voice from behind the aisles shouted "welcome!" in a cheery voice. She wiped her hands on her uniform and raised her eyes to look at me.
"Since when do you work here?" I asked, bewildered.
"There's a lot of things you don't know about me," Natalie spatted back. "What are you doing here?"
"Actually, I'm thinking of ways to make it up to Anna. I asked for my friend, Jake's help."
She raised her eyes to look at me, as if asking why I didn't ask for her help.
"Erm, maybe I could use your help too? I mean, if you would come, of course." I asked sincerly, with an awkward smile.
"My shift had just started though. I'll call my friend and ask for a replacement. Can you wait?"

"So, what's your plan?" Natalie asked me as we were greeted by the smell of coffee.
I scanned the room for Jake, but to find him sitting with a bunch of girls chatting happily. Natalie followed my eyes and chuckled.
"I guess we'll just start without him then." I mumbled, rolling my eyes.
We went to an empty booth upstairs and sat down. I put my bag of stationery on the table and started telling her my plan.
After I finished telling her my plan, I saw Natalie staring at me, dumbfounded. "Crap, that idea is awesome!" she chirped, jumping in her seat.
"Let's just hope that Anna will think the same then" I smiled, happy that the first part of the plan is going well. "Let's start, since I don't think Jake is going to come up anytime soon."
The sky is already dark when we finished all our work. I cleaned up all the papers, feeling accomplished.
"So, I'll bring Anna over next Wednesday, and you'll be at the park, getting ready.

Anna's POV
The whole week passed by quickly, with me doing homework and studying for the upcoming tests. The only way to keep your feelings suppressed is by distracting yourself and making yourself busy. I cleaned my room more than I usually would, working out at the gym to make myself tired so I would fall asleep at night without any thoughts floating around in my head.

I was still deep asleep when my alarm woke me up with a birthday song. I was confused at first but I quickly checked my calendar to see that today is the 7th of January, meaning that it was my birthday. I sighed, completely forgetting the fact that I'm actually turning 18 today.
I got off my bed, putting my messy hair into a bun, opened the curtains and got myself ready for breakfast. I heard my mom chatting with someone as I walked down the stairs. The loud voices became whispers as they hear me.
"Happy birthday!" both of them shouted as I stepped my left foot onto the first floor.
"Thanks guys" I replied with a smile. "Why are you here so early today?" I asked, turning to Natalie.
"I'm taking you birthday shopping!" she answered excitedly, waving jazz hands as she said the words "birthday shopping".
I finished my breakfast and told Natalie that I'm gonna go change into a fresh pair of shirt. I opened the door to my walk- in- closet and decided to wear a yellow hoodie with the leggings that I wore to bed last night. I left my hair in the bun that I tied up earlier in the morning and applied lipstick. I grabbed my bag and unplugged my phone from the charger and ran downstairs.
"Seriously?" Natalie asked as she eyed my outfit. "This is what you're wearing on your 18th birthday?"
"It's comfortable. Come on, we'll take your car." I said swinging my bag on my arm. "Bye mom!"
"Bye honey!" my mom replied. "Have a great today!" She added with a wink.
Natalie giggled and hooked my hand into hers. "My best friend is 18 today!" she shouted next to my ear. I bet the whole neighborhood could've heard her, but I couldn't care less. Nothing is going to ruin my mood today.
