and there it went, Friday morning. The first day they met.
During that workshop, they were just so focus. They answered questions from the facilitator, Monique. Genie was looking for her prospect thinking that she needs to kill her boredom. at first, she looked at Nicko, but she sid to herself that he was not her type and just proceed to the workshop. After the workshop, they would undergo to another interview and if they would pass the interview, they would go through the final interview. In genie's interview, she was like going with the flow, and then her interviewer said,
"since we have the same surname, I'm going to send you to the final interview. Good luck"
while waiting for the final interview, she saw Nicko again and asked him,
"tapos ka na?"
and Nicko just looked at him as if he didn't hear what genie said. and genie was just staring at him, confused.
after Nicko's interview, he was also sent to the final interview. Genie asked him again.
"nakapasa ka? final interview ka na? grabe. kinakabahan ako, kinakabahan ka ba?"
Nicko answered, "hindi" then genie stared again and this time, she just looked at him and smiled a sarcastic smile.
it was Genie's turn for the final interview, she passed and went to the room where she was going to sign a contract. Nicko passed too, they were signing papers on different tables. until a guy went inside and talk to them. they were only three that time that passed the over all interview, Nicko, Genie and a girl named Jazmin.
when the guy went outside to confirm something, Genie tried to break the ice by talking to the two.
"tatlo lang tayo? nasan na yung isang guy? sayang naman. may dalawa akong nakasama kanina, di ata sila nakapasa. nkakalungkot naman. akala ko pa naman pareparehas kaming mkakapasa"
Nicko looked at him and said "alam mo dapat masaya ka kase nakapasa ka. sa tingin mo ba kapag nakapasa sila tas ikaw hindi, ganyan din mararamdaman nila. Isipin mo yung sarili mo."
Genie answered "ang selfish mo naman pala. syempre nakilala ko na sila. ikaw ba wala kang nging friend?"
Nicko: wala. bakit naman ako makikipagkaibigan eh alam ko naman hindi pa sure na magkakasama kaming lahat"
Genie smiled again sarcastically and the guy went back to explain the contract and after that, he gave their schedules and sent the three home.
while entering the elevator, genie asked questions again.
Genie: san kayo nakatira? hindi ko kasi alam daan ko pauwi eh. may daan ba dito papuntang taft?
Nicko: sa bulacan ako nakatira.
Jazmin: sa mandaluyong lang ako.
Genie: san daan nyo? grabe ganda nung facilitator kanina no. crush na crush ko tlga sya. sobrang ganda nya.
Nicko: lesbian ka no? lesbian yun eh
Genie: muka ba kong lesbian? ha? babae ako. masama ba magandahan sa babae?
Nicko: muka kang tibo sa suotan mo eh. san ka nga pala uuwi?
Genie: sa bahay namin. (then smiled) joke! manila ako. taga san ka sa bulacan? so after nito hahanap ka ng dorm kase anlayo mo eh?
Nicko: hindi. uwian ako. kukuha akong apartment kapag nakaipon na ko. sakto nmn ung allowance natin eh. pamasahe ko papunta tsaka pabalik, 150. tas may 150 pa ko.
Genie: hassle naman nun. hmm. may bahay din kami sa bulacan eh. sa sapampalay.
Nicko: malayo kami dun. sobrang ganda sa lugar namin. tignan mo to (sabay turo sa traffic) grabe dami ng sasakyan dito. mapolusyon. dun samin di ka makakakita ng traffic kase maluwag yung daan. tas fresh air pa.
Genie: umiinom ka ba? maganda kse dito kase madaming bar. mura pa, 250 per bucket. see?
Nicko: 250? ang mahal! samin, 180 per bucket. may mga bar din nmn dun pero chill lang. tsaka mura lang medication.
Genie: talaga? wow. astig nmn pala dun. medication? mga gamot? hospital?
Nicko: HINDI. weeds yung tinutukoy ko.
Genie: tlaga? hndi kase ako naggaganun, alak at yosi lang ako. pero may nabili ako, pipe sya. wait, dala ko ata, pakita ko sayo. (sabay bukas ng bag, then inabot yung pipe)
Nicko: wow. cool nito. akin na lang!
Genie was thinking that moment but when she first met Nicko, she felt really comfortable, as if they knew each other very well. after 10 seconds of thinking, she gave the pipe to Nicko thinking that it will be her remembrance since she was not really serious about going back to that call center company.
Nicko: thanks! ganda nito ah.
Genie: magagamit mo ba yan?
Nicko: oo naman. (he put the pipe necklace on his neck)
when they arrived at the LRT station, they bought tickets and waited for the train.
Genie: oy, ingatan mo si jazmin. masikip ung train oh, daming tao. dito n ko sa kabila sasakay.
Jazmin: kunin ko number nyo :)
Genie: wala akong cp eh. yung kay Nicko na lang kunin mo. di ako sure kung babalik pa ko eh.
Nicko: wag mo sayangin yung opputunity, tignan mo, andaming nagapply pero konti lang tayong nakapasa. edi sana hndi ka na nagapply.
genie smiled and just looked at nicko and stared at the pipe on his neck. She absolutely had no idea why she gave it to nicko, she loves that pipe. and then she said
Genie: sige. kita kita sa monday. ayan na yung train nyo. sakay na kayo.
when Nicko and Jazmin went inside the train, Nicko smiled at Genie and shouted
"monday ah! Pumasok ka!"
the doors closed. they just looked at each other, smiled and waved. after that, Genie was sure that she was going back to the company and continue with the training. she was certain that she wanted to see Nicko again.
