I then looked at her car and saw what was wrong. I walked to the car and fixed her battery terminals firmly then realized that the water level in the engine was low.
"You will need some water or else you will ruin your engine." I said then started walking away.
"Wait!" She said.
I stopped walking but did not turn to face her.
"I am sorry I was rude to you. Would you know where I can get some water please?" She asked.
"Lock the car and come with me." I replied.
She did as I asked her and followed me to my house. In the house I had a first aid kit; I took it and gave it to her.
"You are a big girl, you can handle yourself I believe." I said then went to the kitchen.
I watched her from the kitchen; she could barely wash her burnt hand with the sterilizer.
"Let me help you with that. At times even big girls need help, no man is an island." I said after I saw her struggle.
I took the kit and started treating her arm. She looked stressed by something.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"I am Joy." She replied.
"So,what's up with you Joy?" I asked.
"Nothing, I am fine." She replied.
"Okay, if you say so." I said smiling.
"Will you do me a favour please?" She requested.
"Which Favour?" I asked.
"Come help me with the car please." She said.
"I noted that your car is manual, will you be able to drive with the condition which your hand is in?" I asked.
"I will try." She replied.
"Where are you headed to?" I asked.
"I was going to visit a friend in George's Town." She replied.
"That is almost fifty miles away, are you sure you will manage it?" I asked.
"Yes I will." She replied.
"Okay, I will help you with the car but I am sorry, I can't drive you to your destination." I said as I took a huge bottle of water.
She followed me to the car and after I had done the necessary, she was set to leave. She tried to insert the drive gear but her burnt arm couldn't withstand the pain.
"Joy, why don't you call your friend and just postpone the visit?" I asked.
"He has been waiting for me all weekend but I never showed up. He will see as if I am deceiving him and am no liar." She replied.
"Very well then, safe journey." I said and walked away.
I had barely taken ten steps when I heard the sound of screeching tyres followed by a huge bang. I turned my head only to see Joy's car in between two huge trees. I rushed and quickly got her out. She was bleeding from her head. Her seats had a seat cover made of cloth, I tore one of the seat covers and placed it on her bleeding head.
Joy fell unconscious after she hit her head on the dashboard. I carefully tied the piece of cloth on the bleeding cut on her forehead then took her in my arms and carried her back to my house.
I treated her cut and left her in the guestroom lying on the bed. I then went to wash the dishes I had used for breakfast as I cleaned the kitchen. After I was done, I decided to go and watch a movie. On my way to the common room, I met Joy standing at the stairs; she looked confused.
"What happened?" She asked.
"A miracle happened." I replied smiling.
"Where is my car?" She asked.
"I called for a breakdown to take it to the garage." I replied.
"I should have listened to you!" She said calmly.
"Yes you should, you are so lucky it was just a minor cut." I said as I walked to the common room.
"Would you by any chance have some pain killers?" She asked.
"Check in the kitchen, second cabinet on your left." I replied.
She took the painkillers then went back to bed. I sat and started watching my movie. While enjoying the movie, I heard someone calling for help in the neighborhood. It was a lady screaming.
I rushed out and heard the screams coming from Chrisham's compound; it was her screaming. I quickly ran towards her gate and kicked it wide open. I found Chrisham standing at the edge of their mansion staring at her car.
"What's wrong Chrisham?" I asked sounding concerned.
"There is a snake which has got legs on that corner!" She replied pointing at the other corner of the house.
"A snake with legs?!" I asked perplexed.
"Yeah! It was staring at me before I ran off." She replied sounding scared.
I had never heard of such a snake so I decided to go and check it out; I approached cautiously.
"Ham be careful!" Chrisham whispered...
