Chris was lucky to have no internal injuries and had his face fixed and got discharged that very same day. He was the one who had filed a report against me hence the encounter with the cops.

I had no surveillance cameras facing his home hence in court it would be his word against mine. He had connections with a few big people in the government so he stood a better chance winning the case.

As requested, I reported to the court the following day and my case was mentioned. Definitely I denied the charges hence the case was set to be heard a week later. I had one week to gather all the evidence I needed.

I went to the hospital where Chrisham was admitted and asked the doctor to give me a copy of all the records on Chrisham's reports.

"Doc, can she be out in one week?" I asked.

"There is a chance that she might be out by then; why do you ask?" The doctor asked.

"I got arrested yesterday after I walked out of here; her testimony in court will be of great help." I replied.

"Arrested? Why were you arrested?" She asked.

"When I rescued her from the brutality of her husband, I might have used excessive force. I landed a couple of blows on him." I replied.

"That's now serious; I will see what can be done sir." She said as she gave me all the documents I needed.

Time passed by so fast, the week was over and I was back to the courtroom. As usual, Chris used his influence to get false witnesses and somehow managed to get the prosecution side to be hard on me. I was not sure if Chrisham would make it to the court so I decided to be my own witness; I went to the defendants' stands. I took my oath and I was ready to give my testimony.

"Mr. Haman, can you tell this court exactly what happened on 20th August?" The prosecutor asked.

"I was at the balcony of my house when I heard a woman screaming in the next compound. When I went to check what was going on, I found him battering his wife. That was when I stepped in and stopped him." I said pointing at Chris.

"According to the police reports, you gave him a brutal beating, do you deny these allegations?" The prosecutor asked.

"No I don't. The guy was attacking me for trying to rescue his wife, what was I supposed to do?" I asked.

"There is nowhere in these reports showing that Chris ever got to a fight with his wife." The prosecutor said.

"You all have heard false testimonies from the people hired by Chris to testify against me; he has the power to alter police reports, what do you expect?" I asked.

"So now you are saying that Chris is a liar and accusing him of colluding with cops to tamper with evidence?" He asked.

"Do you even know that his wife lost their two and a half months old baby because of him? I asked.

"Do you have evidence to prove your words?" He asked.

That was when I produced the hospital documents and I could see the disbelieve in the prosecutor's eyes as he looked into the files. Before he could give the documents to the Judge, I saw Chrisham walk in to the courtroom; she still has bruises on her face.

The prosecutor had no further questions for me so Chrisham was the one up next on the stands. She took her oath and began her testimony.

"Can you tell us who attacked you?" The prosecutor asked.

Chrisham looked at me then stared at Chris for a while and then pointed at me.

"He is the one who attacked me and when Chris tried helping me, he attacked him as well." She said pointing at me then began crying.

For a moment I felt as if I was dreaming in broad daylight. I could not believe that Chrisham had decided to doublecross me and support her husband after all he had done to her. The hearing was adjourned to be heard again later in the afternoon; the case was getting complicated so I decided to get an attorney of the law. I had a friend who had a law firm so he did me a favour and gave me one of his best attorney.

I told the attorney everything that had happened including the false testimony in court then he asked the judge to allow me to accompany her to the scene of crime with escort by the police. Her name was Mary; my attorney. The judge granted her request and we were escorted to the crime scene. As she was looking for anything that would help us in court, she spotted something.

"Haman, that camera, does it work?" She asked pointing at a camera in the next compound after Chrisham's.

"I have no idea ma'am, I don't know who lives there." I replied.

"I think today is the day you are finally getting to know who lives there, let us pay them a visit." Mary suggested.

I was ready to do anything she asked me to since I could not use my military influence in the case; I did not want to tag along the military to a mess I put myself in. We left Chris' compound and went to visit the next neighbour.

The gate was unlocked so we walked in and I rang the doorbell. Few minutes later a lady opened the door.

"Hello, may I help you?" She asked.

"Hi, my name is Haman, I live just across, immediately after this compound." I said pointing at Chris' home.

"Yes Haman, how may I help you?" She asked....
