Chapter 17

Madison's POV

"So basically I'm super man?" I inquire the man seated before me. I have so many questions to ask and right now I guess my mouth is choosing to ask the dumb ones first.

"Well,I wouldn't call you that...you technically work like him I guess but you weren't born from another planet and you have alot of powers but the one that dominates all of them is your  ability to claim lightning".

"Claim lighting?"

"Yes,you have the power to command lightning...Well some say to 'be one with lighting',I guess they say that because it later on becomes a part of them".

"So there's more people."I ask him before he continues saying more things that will explode my brain cells.

"Yes...But not as much as before..."he answers and stands up from the chair beside my bed.
I guess he doesn't like talking about this.

His hands reach for the door handle but he stops as soon as I call him.
"Dwane."

He turns his attention to me,And now that I'm focused on his face I can see alot of resemblance,besides his rich chocolate complexion,he has the same  hazel brown eyes like me and his ears  are exactly like mine.
I guess my mom just blessed me with her nose,I'm not complaining...I love how it compliments my face.

"Why did you leave...well I guess why did you leave mom,I wasn't really a part of your life for a long time so I couldn't have given you a reason to just live?" I ask what has been bugging me my whole life.

He sighs then he gives me a little smile,"I never wanted to leave...I had to...I loved your mom and I still do,but I had to leave,it wasn't a choice I was proud to make but I still didn't regret it." he looks at me then say,"I loved you from the day you were born and I still love you.
I guess what I'm trying to say is,I love you so much that I had to sacrifice my happiness for your safety."

"Okay" I respond completely speechless,I didn't know what exactly he was talking about but I could tell he was genuine and he meant what he was saying.

"Get some rest kid,you have a big day tomorrow...then maybe things will make more sense,I love you kid."
He waits for a couple of seconds then closes the door softly.
I know he was waiting for an 'I love you too Dad',but I just couldn't,I just met the man recently...I'm just not ready to be vulnerable around him.
Not yet.

After battling with myself on whether or not to blame my mom because my whole life has been a big lie.
I didn't notice how tired I was until darkness invaded my vision.

The next day when I finally woke up I saw that someone was smart enough to notice that I couldn't walk around naked...they placed decent clothing for me to wear,which was a dark skinny jean,a black tight shirt with with long sleeves and a leather jacket with boots.
What's up with the badass look.

Without complaining I took a quick shower and luckily all my toiletries were here,weird...So I brushed my teeth then decided to go with a messy bun.
As soon as I finished I got out of the eerie room then followed the directions that Dwane gave me.
As soon as I spotted what looked like a dining room I made my way there then sat down on the couch awkwardly.

A chorus of two people laughing and talking snapped me out of my daydream.
Dwane and my mom were holding hands and as awkward as it was they didn't even let go,seriously.

Dwane finally let go and made his way to the couch opposite mine with only a table separating us...This whole place is very beautiful for a man who stays alone.
It has a woody touch to It...the floors are dark brown and the walls are different shades of dark brown.
The lighting from the only chandelier I've spotted so far gives the whole place a goldish look.
Finally coming to a conclusion:I have a rich father.

"Morning Madison." He smiles and sits down opposite me my mom does the same and gives me a little smile.
I just look at them and wait.
Wait for the man to explain himself,for my mom to tell me why I was kept under a rock my whole life...oohh and maybe I was just waiting for someone to tell me this was all a dream and I don't have any weird powers and all of this never happed.

"Where do I start?"He looks at my mother as they hold hands,eww.
"Uhm,how about the beginning."
I suggestion with irritation laced in my voice.

"Madison." My mother warns me.

"No,it's okay." Dwane is quick to say something before me and my mother eat each other up.

"As you already know you are different,very different.
There's things that we can't do,simply because it's forbidden to mix with normal or other species.
That means we have rules and if those rules are broken there will be consequences." He says then looks at me," And me,well I'm a Lord...that means we have the highest power and we are very respected.
We are incharge of many things,like the grouping of things and locating their different areas...we have dangerous species like vampires and wolves,then we get more dangerous things such as witches,but all those species are nothing compared to Lords because at the end of the day we are still incharge.
We have 7 important Lords that each deal with seven different things...I deal with lighting and that makes you a good inheritance of my lighting."

"Does that make me a Lord?"I interrupt his speech.

"No,unfortunately you are not a full Lord,you do however have Lord blood in you,I'm guessing ninety percent of your blood is Lord blood.
There were some things in my life that I regret,but meeting your mother was the best thing in my entire life," he looks at her with complete love in his eyes,but he's expression changes when he looks at me,all I see now is pain.
"Everything was perfect until one day your mom came to me and told me that that she was pregnant,I was broken and I didn't know what to do.
I broke the biggest rule,breading with non royal blood and I had to pay.
All the lords were shocked and very much disappointed,they gave me 2 choices...killing you and letting your mother go and be never heard of ,or killing your mother and let the elders that have similar authority as us but much lower keep you as their own."
He was was looking at me as if I would dissapear,he didn't blink but he kept talking,"I talked to one of my trusted friend,Andrwe...he was a Lord as well."

"Was?"I asked hoping he was not going where I thought he was going.

"He died,he was ambushed in his sleep and only a Lord can kill a Lord so we later found out it was Simon,one of the Lord's.
The reason why he was killed was because he tried helping me in the big mess I created. He tried reasoning with the lords to let you and your mother go...The Lord's were okay with the suggestion but I guess Simon wasn't.
But he got he's revenge by killing Andrew,but carma got him right back after all the Lord's found out he was taken off from his authority and made an elders."

"So the Lord's didn't want you to keep me and mom,why now?"

"A deal was made that after a full seventeen years you could come back because your powers would have to be managed properly with training.
You're still not a Lord but they have allowed you to be an elder."

"Okay,what about school?"I ask hoping I will still be able to go to school.

"That's your choice,but for now you will have to stay here until your training is over...your training will start tomorrow, today I would love to give you a tour of this whole area."he suggests.

"You mean of your whole house?"I ask.

"No I mean the whole area,every building and every important house,you can even meet the Lord's and elders.
But it's entirely up to you if you want to do It." He explains.

I decide to go ahead with It...I do need alot more proof to believe everything.
And I guess I can finally learn how to stop blacking outvevery time I blast lighting.

"Okay,where do we start?"

I notice my mother smiling,a very beautiful smile.
