The Diagnosis
Lindsey right now was beside himself, he just wanted to get to the hospital now, but he needed to get some stuff ready for Stevie because the medic had said that he would need, to because Stevie wouldn’t be coming back tonight
He went through her room and got the things that she would need, he was half way through getting her some sweaters out of her drawer when he felt something pointy in there, when he moved some of the sweaters out of the way he found a small gold photo frame, when he looked at it he realised that it was a picture of him and Stevie that they had taken years before, it must have been a time when they were together because it was a picture of them in a kiss
The whole front of the glass was cracked in various places, showing evidence that it had been thrown across the room at some point, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back for him, he realised the pain he had caused her in the past and how close he had been to losing her tonight, he sank to the floor and just couldn’t control his emotions and he just sat there and cried
He continued for a further 10 minutes before he composed himself and got up and finished putting Stevie’s stuff into a weekend bag, once finished he put it in the car, got in and made his way to the love of his life

15 minutes later Lindsey was walking through the hospital doors, he walked over to the desk and asked where Stevie was, they told her where she was but wouldn’t let him see her
“What do you mean I can’t go in there?” Lindsey asked
“I’m sorry Sir but it’s strictly family only” the hardnosed nurse told him
“ I’ve known Stevie since I was 16 years old, if that’s not family then I don’t know what is” she just stared at him
“Unless you have a marriage certificate to prove it you are not going in” he was getting angry now
“I want to fucking see her NOW!” he shouted
“Sir if you continue I will have to call security” she told him
“GO AHEAD!” he challenged her
“Sit down, and a doctor will be with you shortly but you are not allowed in the room!” he finally gave in and sat down
An hour later a doctor came and found Lindsey, he took him into his office
“Would you take a seat please Mr Buckingham” he gestured to the seat the other side of the desk
“What’s the matter with her?” Lindsey asked rushed
“We’ve run a few tests and Ms Nicks has a very serious case of exhaustion, most people get it so they just look pale and tired all the time” he explained
“So why did it make Stevie pass out?” Lindsey asked
“Because in the worst cases of it are usually because the patient has not been taking care of themselves either, when we looked into it there is absolutely no sign of food in Ms Nicks’ digestion system, when did you last see her eat?” the Dr asked
When Lindsey thought about it, Lindsey hadn’t witnessed Stevie eat anything in about a week
“About a week ago I think”
“There is the problem, think of a car, you don’t put fuel in it, it runs on empty for a while and then the engine just gives up the ghost completely, the same thing can happen to humans, and in this case it did”
“Will she be okay?” Lindsey wasn’t quite sure he wanted to hear the answer
“With the proper rest she will recover completely within a week”
The Dr watched as relief went straight to Lindsey’s face
“She really won’t want to stay in the hospital for a week” Lindsey said more to himself
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about, we would only let Ms Nicks out and into her home to recover if we can guarantee she is looked upon 24/7 for this whole week” he looked at Lindsey
“Trust me I can guarantee you that 100% doctor”
“Good, I’ll go get the documents and sign her over to your personal care, once that’s done we will get her dropped back off to her home by the ambulance” Lindsey was confused
“Ambulance?”
“Yes because of the severity of it we will need to keep her sedated for another two days, a nurse will come back with her and set up the correct drips and then come back in two days and take them all off and she will just be on complete bed rest for the remainder of the week”
“Okay, I’d like to thank you so much for keeping her with me” Lindsey said
“She’s a fighter that one” the doctor said and they both laughed
“You can say that again”
The doctor went to go get the documents but before he left Lindsey spoke to him
“The woman at the desk wouldn’t let me see her, please let me, just for a minute” the doctor knew he would beg if he had to
“Okay, go on then, she’s in the room next door” Lindsey thanked him and got next door as fast as he could
He felt such pain when he walked through the door and saw her, she was so pale, with her hair cascading around her face, he walked over and sat in the chair next to her, he took her hand right away
“Oh Steph, why didn’t you take more care of yourself, you always make sure everyone else is alright and forget the most important one!” the people came in to get her ready to take her home, so Lindsey signed the papers and kissed her on the head
“I love you” he said and left so that he could get back to the house and be ready for when she got there
He knew it was going to be a tough week, but if it meant that she would be fit again within the week, he didn’t care, he loved her and would do anything that needed to be done to prove it!
Sorry I didn't update at all yesterday, I hope you enjoyed this new chapter, and just letting you know I will be updating my other two stories tonight, so keep your eyes peeled! xo
