Just wanted to introduce the AU I made so you can understand!!
Your soulmate dies young and only you can see their ghost, they don't have a "heart crystal" which is a small crystal all people have but only is visible to the soulmates of people who have died. You have to find their heart crystal, which is in the place they died, therefore it can be dangerous to get sometimes ex. They got hit by a car on a busy highway. They're also not aloud to tell you where it is they died. Once you get it you then have to find your soulmates spirit and revive them. Once they get their heart crystal back they start to slowly regain mortality. Because of this death has become a normal part of life and it's not nearly as upsetting. Though the moment your soulmate dies you get overcome by an immense feeling of sadness for 24 hours. Though you don't have to revive your soulmate, you can kill yourself and live with them in the afterlife.
