Olivia's POV:

"Did you find the book?" Allison whispers.

"Ran into trouble," I mumble before we step inside the dining room

My mom smiles as soon as she sees me. "Finally you're here...and soaked?" She questions.

"Yeah...Lydia's sprinklers went off when I was about to get in her car" I lie then turn to Scott. "Scott, your mom called me and said she tried getting ahold of you earlier but you weren't answering. She said for you to check your phone to see what time she needs you to pick her up from work." I say and he nods, pushing his chair back.

"Thanks for reminding me, I completely spaced." He says and grabs his sweater from the chair. "Principal Arg--Gerard, Mr. and Mrs. Argent, thank you for dinner. I should get going or my mom is gonna ground me for being late." He says, before quickly leaving the house.

"I don't get it," Gerard says and turns to Allison's parents. "What's not to like?"

"He and Olivia are a lot similar." My mom says with a chuckle as she hands me a plate she saved for me. "Always late to everything."

"Please stop." I groan, making her and Gerard laugh.

"Allison, you know Olivia talks about you a lot." My mom speaks up again with a smirk, making Allison give a teasing smile. "Especially how you were her first friend."

Allison nudges my side. "Does she now?"

I sink further in my chair. Man how I would trade places with Stiles so fast right now so I wouldn't die from embarrassment.

"Mom." I groan as she smiles innocently.

"Were you really the first person to show her around the school?" She asks and Mr. Argent clears his throat.

"Yeah, I'm curious. How did you two meet?" He asks, never taking his eyes off of me.

"Actually, Principal Argent was the one who told me to talk to Allison since he had to take care of something." I gesture to Gerard. "But then I overheard these girls saying these mean things about her as she stood nearby and I had this urge to at least say something so I may have scared them a bit," I explain, shaking my leg nervously.

"Really? Weren't you terrified about what was spread about Allison within the school?" Victoria intimidatingly asked as she slowly cuts a slice of her meatloaf, never taking her eyes off of me. "Didn't you feel like you were invading someone's conversation?"

"Mom." Allison scolds.

"W-Well," My voice squeaked and I cleared my throat. "It just annoyed me a lot to see her upset. I would hope someone would do the same for me."

Jesus Christ, now I really wish I was with that lizard thing. What the hell is this, an interrogation?

I feel a hand on my knee, stopping my leg from shaking. "And I'm grateful she did," Allison says, turning to me with a small smile. "or else I wouldn't have made another best friend."
