you understand that nancy was still trying to find barb, she was grieving. and grieving comes with denial. she's in denial that barb is gone.
you're walking with nancy to school and she just kept on going and going on about how to find barb, but you were so over it. you were mad that she left barb for steve, plus you were grieving too.
"just maybe if we traced her last-"
"can you please just stop?!" you screamed
"look, she's dead nancy. dead. and we can't do anything about it except move on. i mean if you were there for her and didnt dump her just for steve and just for your stupidity she wouldn't have been taken!"
"that's why im trying to find her. im trying to fix the damn mistake i made instead of just leaving and forgetting about her like you do!"
"oh fuck you nancy"
suddenly you felt her palm against your face, she slapped you. you were shocked.
with your hand in your face you walked away, cheeks stained by tears that you just couldn't stop.
