Sofia's POV

"Hi!" The girl looked up at me with an annoyed expression on her face as if she wanted to be left alone. What new kid ever wants to be alone?!

"What?" Even her voice showed that she was annoyed. I wanted to talk, but she was so intimidatingly beautiful that I froze and just stared at her. She had the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen, and she had a beautiful body for our age, while I looked like a freaking Oompa Loompa.

"Are you going to keep staring, or are you going to talk?" She snapped as she closed the thick book she was reading. It's just a matter of time before the popular girls scoop her up to be part of their group.

"I'm Sofia b-but you can call me Sophie." I nervously twirled a piece of my hair as I looked down at the floor. I can feel her glare on me. I should probably walk away before I embarrass myself more — Yup I'm going to do that.

I turned around to start my walk of embarrassment.

"Xena." What?

"Huh?" She laughed lightly as a cute little smirk appeared on her face.

"My name." She laughed again. "My name is Xena." I smiled widely at her as I sat down in front of her.

"Oh, I like your name. I'm Sofia Grant." I smiled even more as she took her glasses off, making her beautiful eyes stand out even more.

"Xena Rizzotto." I thought no one was perfect, but this girl is sure as hell near it.

"Xena Rizzotto." I repeated with a smile.

"You mispronounced my last name."

——

"What do you mean you're going to another high school?" We were laying side by side on my bed stuffing our faces with hot Cheetos.

"I mean that I'm going to another high school, plain and simple." I turned, so I was hovering over her as she raised her eyebrow at me. Is it possible for her to change since I met her at the beginning of the eighth grade?

"We were supposed to be freshman together." She pushed me off and stood up as her phone rang.

Am I going to be alone for high school? That's the worst thing to happen for a freshman.
——

Xena❤️: I have a surprise for you.
                                                 Ya? What's that?
Xena❤️: Call me?
                                                 Right now?
Xena❤️: Please?

I turned and looked at Dylan, who was a sweet boy helping me with schoolwork. I know he's been flirting with me, but I don't see him that way.

"Uh, Dylan? I have to make a call, is that fine?" He looked down at my phone. Not that I wouldn't do it anyway if he said no.

"Sure it's your house, Sofia." He smiled at me, showing his dimples. Usually, I'm a sucker for dimples just not his. I stood up and ran up to my room.

"Hey, Sophie." Her voice made goosebumps rise all over me.

"H-hey X." I can practically feel her smirk through the phone.

"Aren't you gonna ask me what your surprise is?" I smiled and bit my lip. Xena always hated talking on the phone; she says she's too awkward for it.

"I don't know, you calling is a surprise itself."

"Sophie. Just ask." She has an annoying voice.
