Ding!
The door bell rang
I'm not getting it..
I thought to myself
Ding!
It rang again
Ugh..
When I answered the door,my eyes flew open, and I immediately hugged the receiver
It was my younger sister, Cathy!
She was getting to be so tall!
Well, taller than me anyways..taller than m
(That was the part I worked on a few months ago, here's what I just did now)
"CATH CATH!"
I squealed, as Cathy grinned happily at me.
"I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!"
Now, she was only gone for about 3 months, but to us that seemed like a long time.
"Hey Pay!"
She looked around, somewhat nervous for something.
"So uh.."
She trailed off.
"What is it? Did you get a boooyfriend or something?" I said playfully.
She looked down at the floor.
"What is it Cath? You know you can tell me anything, right?"
I said, questioningly.
"Well, I uh..-"
Before she could finish her already interrupted thought, someone ran in, spun her around, and kissed her.
"D-DAISY!" She shrieked, pushing her friend off of her.
It was at that time I knew what she had really been hiding from us. My sister, had a girlfriend.
"What?" Daisy asked, confused.
"SHE DOESN'T KNOW YETTT" My sister yelled, hiding behind her very close friend.
"I- uh.." I trailed off. Now, don't get me wrong, I had no problem with it what so ever, I just didn't know how to act. If she had gotten a boyfriend I would've acted the exact same as I was now. I wonder what Tom thought about the lgbtq+ community. Surely he was supportive of it, right?
My sister smacked her head.
"Look, if you're just going to yell at me-"
I interrupted her immediately.
"NO- NONONO- I-" I yelled, embarrassed.
"I-it's just, I don't really know how to act?.."
She laughed.
"Oh, sorry. You scared me there for a second.."
I let out a short "heh.." still embarrassed.
"So, uh..how's Tiffy?" She asked, nervously.
I looked down at my feet. I really didn't want to be the one to tell her this, not now, but I guess I had to.
*Oh well, better get this over with..* I thought and sighed.
"She uh..she has cancer.."
I watched as my sisters eyes went dull.
"P-pay, you know that this isn't f-funny, right?.."
I looked up at her, with a serious look on my face and nodded.
I watched as tears soon formed in her eyes as she ran into her girlfriends arms and hugged her tightly.
To be honest, I hadn't even given it much thought. I just heard the news, and for some reason it didn't hit me. My sister could die. Just then, a loud "buzz!" came from my phone. *Tom..* I sighed a sigh of relief. He would for sure cheer me up.
"I..gotta take this.." I ran upstairs into my bedroom and picked up the phone.
"Heyyy baby!" He said, in his normal cheerful voice.
"Heyy Tommy.." I responded back with, trying to be as enthusiastic as I could. I really didn't want him seeing that I was upset. But, to my dismay, he could see right through me.
"What wrong Paris?"
He asked, now seeming less playful and more serious.
"Oh, n-nothing..it's just that..my sister, Tiffany..she, well.." I trailed off sadly.
"She what?" Tom asked, kind of demanding.
"She..has cancer.." I said, holding back tears.
"Oh. Sorry about that." He said, not sympathetically at all, like he normally is.
"What?" I asked, genuinely concerned for him.
"Babe, are you feeling ok?" I asked, seriously.
He laughed.
"Yeah, I'm feeling fine Paris."
He NEVER calls me by my first name. That's the moment I realized, this isn't good.I decided to add my own twist on things, for this is an old story and I personally enjoy making lgbtq+ ones. (Nothing against the straight allies, love y'all too, I just like representing my community xoxo)
