Rick's pov
(Y/n) sat on my workbench looking up at me. She had confirmed what I'd been suspicious of as soon as she walked back into my life, she didn't remember anything."You just woke up in a strange place and didn't question it," I sighed taking a drink from my flask.
"I did but Sam explained that I fell asleep on the drive over and that I'd been in a bad accident."
"Do you remember *eugh* the accident?"
"No. I can't remember anything. I don't know why I have this robot eye or why it started to show up after..." She began but got quiet, her cheeks began to turn pink.
"Yeah okay. Let me -let me check something," I said rummaging around to find my brain analyzer. "Got *eugh* it," I said before placing the helmet on her head. The screen turned on glowing a bright blue.
"Is this supposed to play my memories?"
"Yeah in- in a sense," I said drinking from my flask again. "Think of...think of something - try to...try to remember that first adventure we went on."
The screen flicked on an image of that night we incepted Morty's math teacher's dream. A second later the image began to get static and changed abruptly. On the screen was the first ever adventure (y/n) and I went on almost 54 years ago.
*Flashback*
She was busy navigating her space ship to the planet her newest target was hiding on. We were both fifteen at the time. She had picked me up the night before her mission since she was going to be in a neighboring Galaxy.
"So have you ever killed anyone," she asked with a straight face, not even looking toward me.
We'd met a few months before when she'd arrived on Earth searching for one of her targets, she had been 13 then. She hunted down wanted criminals, aliens who owed important entities a large debt, and killed anyone one for the right price; at the time she had been run by her alien parents.
"Nevermind," she said before changing the subject, "so last time. Oh I'm, yeah yeah. That time we first met, I ended up failing the mission and my eye got hit in the process."
"What'd your folks do?"
"I ended up getting the guy half way out the Galaxy but I bit it hard once I reported in. They had me sent to a friend of theirs, you know to take a look at my eye."
"Yeah so," I shrugged.
"My eye was minimally injured and they did this to me," she said pulling her hair out of her face. Her eye glowed a bright blue and constantly adjusted. "It was supposed to be a punishment for failing, they said that now I don't have an excuse for missing my mark," she said gripping the steering wheel hard.
"That why- why you changed the look?"
"Sort of, I change my hair a lot. I'm thinking of making this my last mission I work for them."
