Get it off your chest

Cast of Characters:

Oliver:

A year ten student who is bi-curious, he is white British with no distinct accent.

Juberi:

A year ten student who is openly gay, he is Black African/British with an African accent.

Scene:

Oliver's bedroom

Time:

Present - afternoon

SETTING:

We are in OLIVER's bedroom, inside a basic residential house in an average town. His room reflects his age but is nothing out of the ordinary. Both characters have been here many times.

AT RISE:

OLIVER and ZUBERI are coming back from a day of school. When they come into the room both boys have already taken off their shoes. OLIVER wants to relax. ZUBERI wants to complete homework.

INT. OLIVER's bedroom - AFTERNOON

(There is: a bed centre stage, a dresser stage right and a hook on the wall next to the door stage right. OLIVER and ZUBERI enter stage right through the bedroom door. OLIVER first. They are already talking to one another. Both take off their bags, OLIVER puts his by the door as they hang up their blazers)

ZUBERI

Did you want to make a start on that Physics homework, Oliver?

(ZUBERI sits on the bed, resting his rucksack onto his lap)

OLIVER

(Bluntly) No chance.

(OLIVER undoes his tie, dumping it on the dresser. Undoing his shirt buttons as the dialogue continues)

(At this ZUBERI can't help but look at OLIVER's midriff but OLIVER is oblivious)

OLIVER

Unlike you, I don't care all that much about getting it done anytime soon: or at all for that matter.

(OLIVER takes off his shirt. ZUBERI turns away but looks over again when he knows that OLIVER won't notice. OLIVER takes out a top from the dresser, putting it on as ZUBERI speaks)

ZUBERI

(Grunts) It'll be the fourth detention you've got from not handing in a piece of Physics homework this year.

OLIVER

Don't care! Mr Havris is a puff anyway.

(ZUBERI narrows his eyes at OLIVER's language but shakes it off)

ZUBERI

Wouldn't you rather get it done now since I'm here?

(OLIVER walks over to ZUBERI, taking his bag before ZUBERI is able to find the right book. Placing it by the door)

OLIVER

That's so Gay. Relax! The fag already knows that I won't do his homework.

ZUBERI

(Irritated) You mean that he's gay? What has his sexuality got to do with anything?

(OLIVER forces ZUBERI to move over a space)
