The three boys rushed into the AV room and were quick to the radio, but Amelia was quicker.
"Not so fast. You need to tell me everything. Now." Amelia told them. The next few minutes were spent by the boys telling Amelia everything they knew, which was not much more than she already knew. They had just confirmed some suspicious she had. Turned out Eleven did have superpowers, what they were exactly was not explained, and she was on the run from, as the boys called it, 'the bad men'. "So why do you need the radio?"
"So we can contact Will," Mike answered.
Amelia breath got caught in her throat. What was she to say to that? They must have known Will was dead. Her voice softened. "I know it's hard for you boys. I know how close you were to him, but Will -" she tried her best not to choke up. "Will is dead."
"He's not," Dustin blurted out. Amelia's heart broke. What was she to do? "Eleven has powers and she can use them to contact him! We can show you if you move from the radio!" The older women eyed the three boys and then glanced to Eleven who stood quietly in the corner. Will was dead, she saw his body. How was she meant to explain that to three kids who were refusing to believe it? With a deep sigh, Amelia moved from the radio. They were going to have to find out the truth some way or the other.
The boys quickly rushed to the radio, turning it on and ushering Eleven to sit on the seat. Amelia watched from behind them. Preparing herself for when they do not contact Will, she would have to try to comfort the boys best she could. The boys turned the radio on. Static echoed in the room. Eleven closed her eyes and everyone's eyes stayed on her, waiting for something to happen.
"She's doing it. She's finding him!" Mike exclaimed.
"This is crazy," Dustin added feeling overwhelmed.
"Calm down," Lucas added. "She just closed her eyes."
Amelia stayed in the corner and watched. Her hand rubbed her forehead as she wondered what the hell was she doing. Why was she letting this happen? This was beyond irresponsible, she needed to stop it, but how? This was the best way, they had to find out for themselves.
Suddenly the light popped, putting them all in darkness. Amelia's eyes opened.
"What the-" A bang on the radio cut Amliea short, she was quick to the boys' side. "Boys, if this is some pran-" she got cut off again. They all stared at the radio as the static and bang that sounded like gunshots continued. "Did this happen last time you try this?" She asked. The boys shook their heads. "Then I'm turning it off."
"No!" The boys countered back. Amelia reached for the radio but the boys pushed her back.
"Boys stop we don't know what it is, this could be dangero-"
"Mum?" They all froze. Amelia was too shocked to say anything. It was Will.
"No way..." Lucas mumbled.
The bangs continued as Will spoke again. "Mum?" He sounded the same as he did on the radio that night. Amelia took a step back and her hand covered her open mouth. This was impossible. The boys must have been playing a trick. But how? Why would they? "Mom!"
"Will!"
"Will! It's us are you there?!"
"Can you hear us we're here?!"
The boys all screamed down the radio.
"Hello?" Will's voice came again. Amelia's back reached a wall. Her bottom lipped wobbled as she tried to control her breathing. She saw his body. His dead body. How could she hear him now? "Mom?"
