"Hey Koda where are you going...?" Richie asks, causing the rest of the losers club to turn their heads at me."I h-have to go richie..." I tell him,"I have things I need to do....things I need to figure out".
"I-I-It's okay Koda" Bill assured me," you can go...".
I smile bittersweetly,"Thanks Billy boy".
I turn around, ready to head over to the road from which I would continue my search for the disappearance of my sister. I checked the bus transport department, asking for their files to find any indication of her traveling out of town without telling me. There was nothing. I went to the train department asking the same, there was nothing. I couldn't go to the police, what could they do? She was a grown adult who could do whatever she wanted, not some child that was lost or kidnapped. I managed to print out some copies of her picture, making dozens of missing person posters to stamp on walls, windows, or anything that could stick.
"Hey Koda!"
I turn around, and see Stanley rushing towards me down the road with this bike." Let me help you" he said, stopping his bike beside me, " we can set out more posters in the bike, it'll be more quicker".
"That's alright stanley" I tell him, stamping the first poster on a wooden pole," go back to the others, they need you".
"He's right you know!"" I hear another voice in the distance, I turn around and see Bill, along with the rest of the losers speeding towards us on their bikes. Once they stopped right in front of us, I see Richie take the posters from my hands.
"Anything for the hotstuff~" he teases, looking through them,"Can I keep one?"
"Richie~" Eddie grits through his teeth, smacking his back.
"You guys..."
I am at a loss for words
"T-thank you...I-I..."
"don't worry about it~" Beverly says with a wink,"it's the least I can do after you polished my bathroom".
Richie hands everyone a couple of posters,
"Alright cadets!" He says in a stern colonel accent,"I want these walls covered with these posters,do I make myself clear!?!""Sir yes sir!" We all chant, giggling and laughing as we play along.
"Then get to it!" He says, and we quickly disperse in different directions.
I hop on Stanley's bike, and we ride through the town, covering as much as we could legally cover with the posters of my beautiful sister.
As we ride through the streets, I catch something in the corner of my eye.
Something red....
Shiny...
And round...
As I turn to gaze at the object, I realize it's just a red balloon. I tilt my head in confusion, wondering why it wasn't floating to the sky or blowing with the wind.
It was as still as a picture
"Hey stan" I lightly tug at his shirt, causing him to turn his head to gaze at me."can you stop the bike please?" I ask,he nods and does what I asked him.
