Sick
He stepped inside the room quietly right foot first, concern all over
his face. The room was quite dark but his eyes saw her immediately.
She is lying on the bed, peacefully sleeping.
He walked closer to her, and turned on the lamp beside the bed. He
took the fauteuil, place it closer to the bed and sat on it. He stared
at her, somewhat memorizing her contours while watching her float in
her dreams. How he just wished that she is dreaming about him.
He remembered how Maya fainted again. She even said ‘Sir Chief’ weakly
before she went unconscious. Oh how he ran fast as he could to her.
His actions may even reveal his feelings towards her but on that
moment, he doesn’t care at all. She has fever. He carried her and
laid her on the bed inside the guest room where she can be
comfortable.
Now, Richard placed his right hand on her forehead. He heaved a sigh,
she is still sick. Seeing her like this made him languish. She
fidgeted which made him remove his hands on the thought that she will
woke up now, but she didn’t.
He smiled on the thought of her as sleeping beauty and him, as her
prince charming or rather her mahal na hari.
“Ricardo…” Manang Fe suddenly came in
He just looked at Manang Fe.
“Pinagluto ko si Maya ng lugaw para makainom na din siya ng gamot.”
she told him as she put the bowl on the table beside the bed.
“Mamaya na lang po siguro pagkagising niya. Mukha pong pagod pa siya.”
“O sige, ako na dito at kumain ka na sa baba.”
“Hindi na po Manang, ako na po muna dito. Busog pa naman po ako.”
“Sige, ikaw ang bahala. Tawagin mo na lang ako pag gising na siya.”
She knows that Richard wanted to be beside Maya and not because he is
her boss and he is just concerned but because he loves her. So, she
left the room with a smile on her face.
He touched her face, rubbing her right hand on her left cheek. She
can’t bear seeing Maya like this. He is used to seeing Maya as
energetic as she is and not as sick as she is right now. He would do
anything just to make his Maya feel better again.
He, then dozed off while sitting on the chair, his head rested on his
arms which are placed on the side of the bed.
She, on the other hand slowly opened her eyes. Her head pounding hard.
She shifted her head which made her see this man sleeping beside her.
And how her heart seemed to stop from beating for a second. Her body
heated and she knows the warmth she is feeling is not because of
fever, but rather because of this man beside her. She smiled with the
thought of her Sir Chief taking care of her. She knows he is, her
heart tells her so. He is her guardian angel now, she just knows he
is.
He suddenly made small movements as a sign of waking up. She, then
closed her eyes again.
He looked at Maya. “You are still sleeping baby? Bakit ka ba kasi
masyado nagpagod?” he mumbled knowing that she is still sleeping and
couldn’t hear him.
While she, just can’t help but to feel giddy, thousands of butterflies
flying in her stomach. She stopped herself from smiling and pretended
to be sleeping wanting him to continue talking to her like that.
“Ricardo, kumain ka na muna, sige na.” Manang Fe once again came in.
She surely doesn’t want to tell him to leave Maya for a while but she
is worried because he hadn’t eaten yet.
“Sige po, susunod na po ako.” he agreed feeling hungry all of a sudden
and he just can’t get sick too because if that would happen, he can no
longer take care of her.
As Manang Fe left, he caressed her right cheek and mumbled “Get well
soon please…” as he stood up, he bend and kissed her temples. He was
about to turn and leave when he, dipped his face for another kiss
catching the tip of her lips. “I love you Maya.”
As the door shuts, she was left shocked. Why is he acting like that?
Did he just said that he loves me? She touched the tip of her lips and
smiled. She is sick but she knows she is not dreaming. Do fairy tales
really do come true? She will definitely get well sooner or should I
say, she couldn’t feel better now than ever. :)
