WE STOPPED BY the donation booth to drop off the money I bid for, then went inside. I got to my dented locker to find the girl I fought with at the auction standing there, waiting for me.

"Are you rich or something?" she lashed out.

Yes. Yes, I am.

"Why do you care?" I say.

"I haven't seen you before until recently. You're new, aren't you? Do you know how hard it is to get Jorel King to even have a decent conversation longer than thirty seconds, let alone, go on a date with you?"

"I've heard, yes," I said with a bored expression.

"I was putting in all my savings for him!" she snapped.

"Ah, well. That sounds like a you problem to me." I opened my locker to get my journal, then walked away to go outside.

"Wait!" she called out.

I turned to her.

"C-can I... have one date with him, at least?"

I stood there for a couple of seconds pondering the question. If she wants it that bad, why not do her a favor?

"What's your name?" I ask her.

"Amber Montgomery."

I'd have to tell Jorel first.

"Meet me by the football field benches after school, then I'll give you my answer," I said finally.

Amber nodded violently. "Of course, anything."

"Alright. See you later."

I walk towards the doors to head outside, when Jorel bumps into me, having a feeling of deja vu. This time my glasses stayed on my face, thankfully.

"You are... the person I was specifically going to find," I tell him.

"Wow, miss me already?" he quipped.

"Haha, very funny. I need to talk to you."

"Okay? About?"

"You know that chick who was fighting with me in the auction for you earlier?"

"Yuh... What about her?"

"She asked me if I could let her have one date with you."

Jorel craned his neck back as he groaned. "Just one, right?"

"Just one she said."

He inhaled, pursing his lips. "Okay. But I'm telling her myself."

"Deal. Told her to meet by the football field benches when school ends so we can arrange things there."

"Bet," he said, then opened the door for me. Jorel followed up to my class' kiosk and sat on one of the stools Ty had pulled out during the auction.

Ty and Whitney were attending to other students as we sat watching. They didn't notice our return until Jorel coughed.

"Oh, hey," Whitney said. "How does it feel to be bought at the highest price in CDA history?"

"Like the King I am. Saved by a good friend," Jorel wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"Must feel nice, indeed," Whitney nodded.

"Now I just have to figure out where to take this girl on a date," Jorel mentioned.

Whitney turned to me. "Why..? Just why did you do it? I didn't know you wanted to date this guy."

"Hey!" Jorel snapped.
