I wake up to a pillow flying at my face. Laina giggles at the look on my face. I can't tell if I look terrified, angry, confused, or all 3. "Wake up, sleepy bear. I made crepes with Nutella!" She turns back to the kitchen as I scramble off the couch to follow.
"Thanks," I mumble through a yawn, throwing my arms around Laina. Sometimes, she calls me a bear because, apparently, I resemble a baby bear when I wake up. I choose to believe it's because I give good hugs.
"So, what's this Druids of Novhina book about?" Laina asks once I've had a cup of tea. Laina loves teasing me about my habit, claiming that reading Harry Potter must have turned me British at heart.
"It takes place in this world called Novinha, where some people have elemental powers but are hated and feared for it. I guess in that world, being able to hide their powers could mean the difference between life and death."
"Sounds cool. Can I read it after you?"
"Why not read it together?"
"Good point. Let's start after breakfast." I give her a thumbs up and continue shoveling crepes into my mouth like there's no tomorrow.
