mark had rung the doorbell and was now doubting if no one was allergic to flowers. but he didn't have any more time to contemplate, because the door already opened.

"hi mark!" haeun yelled before two arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her away. she was thrown back into the living room and mark saw her stomping away.

"hi mark." donghyuck panted, after getting rid of his sister.

"h-hi." he was glad he was at the right house this time. he almost handed the flowers to a stranger, thinking it was donghyuck's mom. she pointed out donghyuck lived three houses down the street.

"come in." donghyuck said, making room so mark could enter the house.

he closed the door again and scanned mark's outfit. it wasn't weird or anything, donghyuck just noticed he put more effort in it.

"how are you doing?" mark asked, happy to see his friend after such a long time.

donghyuck chuckled. "you asked me just a few hours ago."

mark laughed awkwardly. yes, he did. but seeing donghyuck in person, in his house, made him so incredibly nervous. he didn't know what else to say.

a door opened and three people came walking in. "mark! good to see you again." seoa said, walking over to him.

"nice to see you too, these are for you." he smiled, handing her the flowers.

"they're wonderful, thank you mark." she adored the flowers, smiling brightly.

she stepped aside, clearing the way to donghyuck's dad.

"nice to meet you mark, i'm minsu. i've heard lots of good things about you." he held out his hand and mark shook it politely.

"it's very nice to meet you too." mark felt his voice shake, and the grip of minsu's hand on his tighten.

"let's go eat!" haeun screeched and hopscotched back into the garden.

everyone followed her steps.

mark looked around him.

there was a large picknick table, a barbecue next to it. a flowy green fabric was high above their heads, creating a sheltered space. there were colourful lights all around and the soft sound of water came from the back of the garden. anywhere you looked were cute items, looking like they aren't used anymore but are too adored to throw out. everywhere you looked you could see flowers.

mark was in awe of the place. it fit with his idea of donghyuck perfectly.

"take a seat, mark." minsu said and walked over to the barbecue, to start grilling.

the vibe was kind of awkward, so someone had to break the tension.

"donghyuck told me you both participated in a competition?" minsu asked mark, after placing meat on everyone's plate.

"oh, the music program! yeah, that was awesome." mark said, happily remembering the memories.

"so you're into music?" minsu kept the conversation going.

"hmhm," mark answered. "my parents were real rockpunks." he giggled.

"really? me too! you know, i was in a local band. we did quite the performances."

seoa snorted. "his singing was so bad, that's why he stood out to me."

"do i have to hear that 'how we met each other' story again?" haeun whined, dropping her cutlery.

donghyuck grinned. he liked the story. he wished would have such a story to think back to as well when he grew up.

"who cares if i could sing, we were famous!"
