Chapter 10

CHAPTER 10

"So how do we tell them?" I asked, as I slowly applied my eyeliner.

"Not sure yet...But it'll happen." Kyle said through the bathroom door. We had both figured the best way to tell our families we were dating was to take them out to a nice dinner, somewhere where they couldn't escape. I mean, it would be a lot to take in. It was sure a lot for us. We decided to go to a nice place called,"La Patricia." And by nice, I mean NICE.

"Are you ready yet babe?" Kyle yelled through the door, "We have to duck out in 10."

"Yeah." I said, slowly opening the bathroom door, revealing my favorite black dress. It was strapless, and tight, right until you got to the waist. At the waist it flared out,and only went to right above my knee. Little pink sparkles got heavier towards the bottom of the dress and as you went up, slowly went away. I had topped it all off with some heels, bright pink ones to match the sparkles.

"Damn." Kyle said, putting his hand around my waist and pulling me close to him.

"Language, mister." I said, laughing and pulling his hands off my waist,"We have to go!"

"Fine." He said winking, as he attempted to tie his tie.

I nearly cried laughing as he nearly chocked himself with the dang thing,"Need a little help?" I asked, standing up slowly. Kyle put his arms down as I approached him.

I began to tie his tie as our eyes met. Kyle flashed his killer smile, and I couldn't help but blush. I couldn't believe I had known him for 16 years and never before realized how adorable he was.

I jumped as the door quickly opened,"C'mon love birds we gotta go." Chase yelled.

"Chase! Shut up with the love bird stuff! You promised you wouldn't say anything until we told everybody!" I whisper-yelled as we headed toward the car.

"Yes,I'll have a sweet tea." I ordered as Kyle put his hand on my thigh under the table. I quickly turned to him and shook me head 'no'. He smiled slightly and laughed.

We ordered our food, I looked at Kyle as if to say,'Tell them now?' He nodded his head no. We nearly finished our food and I looked at Kyle again, still a no.

"So guys, what's up with y'all lately?" Kim said, trying to break the awkward silence, the nearly never happened when we were all together. "No offense, but y'all have been acting awkward lately..." She said as she looked at me, Kyle, and Chase.

I looked at Kyle and heard Chase die laughing. I wasn't sure why, but i joined in on the laughing. Once we started, we couldn't stop. Kyle looked at us with a weird face and joined in. Everyone stared at us blankly, and we all cried from laughing so hard.

We finally toned down, and were back to the awkward silence.

"Um, we have to tell you guys something." Kyle said nervously, looking at Chase. He waited for a minute until everyone was listening,"Uhh...This might be weird for you guys to hear. Or it might not. I don't know...but..." Kyle broke off and looked at Chase.

"Need help?" Chase said, looking at Kyle. Kyle shook his head and let Chase take over.

He stood up to add unnecessary affect,"Alright. So we all know Meg, and Kyle. We all know they've been friends since,well...forever. These two have been through a lot together. They're best friends. And well, they're taking it to another level. Yes, they're dating." He raised his voice," NOW, don't get all crazy and weird on 'em. They're mature, and they can handle it. They need you guys to support them. I know what you're thinking, they've always been like brother and sister. And obviously that phase is over. They're together now, and I think we can all be okay with that." He slowly sat down and we slipped back into an awkward silence.

"Well, I'm happy for you guys. And I-I- support it. Even if its weird at first, I think we're good." Ken said, making me feel a little better.

"Totally, it will take some getting used to, but I can't say we didn't see it coming!" My mom said, as Kim agreed.

"Yeah, I mean...it had to happen one day." She said.

I looked over at Conner who was sitting in his chair, looking down at his phone. "And you Con, are you okay with this?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure, whatever." He said,still looking at this phone.

I looked at Kyle who gave me an assuring smile.

We all drove up to Kyle's house and I slowly hopped out of the car,"I'm gonna go home. And sleep. It's been a long, MISERABLE day for me. Night guys, love y'all!" I said, running to my front door to avoid the sudden pouring rain. I got to the door and punched in the code.

I ran upstairs and quickly changed. I went and sat in the game room, and turned on an episode of 'Gossip Girl'. Even though I'd been up since 6 dealing with this, I really wasn't that tired. I looked at the clock, noticing it was 10:40. My mom still wasn't here. She probably wouldn't be until late tonight, her and Kim could talk forever. Even with the news we just gave them.

"Meg!" I heard a manly voice yell from down stairs.

"Game room!" I yelled back, figuring it was one of the Smith boys. I paused the TV and stood up.

I looked up at the person standing in the door way. I gasped when i realized it was not a Smith boy....
